Mostly because the relationships and personalities take a complete heelturn with the timeskip, and none of the characters had any agency for events that happened off-panel during the timeskip. It felt like the entire story was hollowed out just to have the daughter marriage ending even though Daikichi and Hina clearly had other prospects.

Nah, Usagi Drop is a terrible series. It was a sweet family manga that got twisted by mangaka's daddy fetish after the time skip; no foreshadowing whatsoever. I don't mind degeneracy in my manga, but don't slap it in halfway through.

Usagi Drop is just that powerful. It broke people so completely that it lives rent-free in their minds and the mere suggestion that a similar developent is going on it makes them recoil is horror.
