you are taking the boss' statement as fact when it's just his TAKE on the facts. All we know is she took his eye, and that they were close before and after the incident. Them's the only facts so far, the rest is speculation.
That's why i said there gotta be a proper explanation instead of 50 chapters sidelining like many other gag mangas with "serious side plots" tend to do. As is, shit is pretty damning for the FMC.

Seems like her retirement came pretty quick after that fight, didn't it? All the flashbacks of her still active, he has both eyes, I think.

Didn't really expect Yotaka to have actually done it on purpose but the way she sees it she looks back at those ice cream binges fondly, so I wonder if Kanetsuna was lying or giving his own interpretation of events to Todororoki.
There is the possibility she did because she started to see in him the kind of lifeless being she was in the past and decided to cut him short before he was nothing but another killing machine. Or maybe he got ahead of himself and tried to kill her but she didn't go for the kill.

There's a clear separation between Yotaka and the organization and junior is between them. He may be doing this out of obligation, but I think he understands why she is the way she is, and it seems he likes things being that way.

I think she took his eye because he was originally given orders to kill her like he was earlier in the presenday. But because she like him she took his eye so he would be unable to killher and they could keep chummin it up.

I guess it must've been a real eye opener, that aside I like the idea that she did it to save him from a worse fate, maybe she knew about something ahead of time (let's just say a really big hit), and rather than have her friend go out and do it on his own she would rather spare him by taking his eye out so he would be MIA for a while and instead take the job herself to attempt to keep his humanity. Or as you said, keep him from becoming another killing machine like her which we know drove her to the point of exhaustion.

Maybe Junior repaid her by helping her retire and actively avoided ever bringing up her old job or asking her to come back until he was forced to by Kanetsuna, I see readers asking how he could be so cool with it but I feel like he knew that it was a necessary evil, seeing as how he was a really angry teen and susceptible to manipulation, he's definitely a lot more calm and rational now that he's in his 20s, although like he a dog his boss still has him on a leash and I hope Yotaka is able to help him break free.

What if he lost the eye because for a moment, he directed bloodlust at her, and her insane-ass instincts (which she was clearly deep in, as she'd just killed a bunch of guys) made her automatically just slice his eye without realizing that's what was happening?

I think it's worth noting that their line of work seems to have that John Wick-style culture where trying to kill each other is just "doing their job" and that hard feelings aren't really common. But I guess that sort of professional courtesy also hella kills any personal relationships unless you're in the same "company".

It is a pretty good analysis of her character (I didn't actually notice the bodies upon my first read), when she's locked in she's locked in so she could've definitely had a lapse in judgement.

I mean she was about to kill Snake even though he wasn't the target before Junior snapped her out of it by showing up out of nowhere (with a bag of ice cream to munch on after a job), he could've probably done the same here with Yotaka mistaking him for another enemy trying to get the jump on her. So this likely could be a possiiblity!

So Junior losing his eye wasn't due to some grand battle or moment of misjudgment it's just because Yotaka was jelous as fuck.

That being said it seems she was harboring some sort of hostility towards him for a while seeing as how Junior still had his eye during their first encounter with Snake where he was coincidentally holding a bag of ice cream, my guess is that she took his eye right after this encounter.

I swear this series reels you in with the promise of a hot lady but keeps you invested with these characters who actually have depth behind them. Be it as may I still want these two to end up together because look at them (lots of cute Yotaka moments in this chapter and that's always a plus).

that's just his assumption. we dont know the full truth from either of them as of yet. it could be he did or said something that set her off and she took his eye as a warning or it could be just as the guy said that she felt threatened. it could also have been a complete accident but with misleading panels to make it seem like they had a fight.

Definitely leaning more towards it being an accident now than my initial post but not knowing the full truth is making this story so much more intriguing

That's my main gripe. Like the pissing duo said, "if someone did that to me". She quite literally ruined his life / career with no prior hostility. She just did it out of nowhere because he was carrying the bag of ice cream like he always did. It makes absolutely no sense for him to being this buddy buddy with her. This goes for the Hawk as well. How sociopathic are you to treat the man you fucked over like you are childhood friends? There gotta be some proper explanation as to why she did what she did and why he is seemingly fine with it. And jealousy / pettyness is not it unless author wants the readers to dislike her instead.
She definitely had a reason to do it. She was probably protecting him somehow.

The only way for Junior to get over his trauma is for him to fuck Nighthawk sloppy style and get her pregnant. That's the only way he'll be able to prove his manhood to himself.

It's necessary for his mental state. There's no other way.

Go, Junior. Fuck the NEET. For great justice.

See I'm thinking the reveal will be she didn't disable him out of spite or Jealousy. The agency was clearly grooming him to be her successor and Nighthawk probably was of the mindset that she didn't want anyone else to experience the type of shit she had to go through. So she injured his eye as a "mercy." Which would also explain why he doesn't actually resent her.

Yeah I'm having a similar thought, it's between her doing it because she mistook him for an enemy and was too focused on killing that she had a severe lapse in judgement and didn't notice or she did it to spare him from becoming something like her (a killing machine).
