Haven't bought anything before but will definitely buy something in the future.

Especially the Mushoku Tensei and Bakemonogatari series. Those are just simply a treat to read.

Sadly, I still haven't buy official copy of any of the manga that I've read here yet as I don't have enough money to buy it yet as I am still a student. However, I do use the links to some of the orginal versions of the stories I read in order to check how much it cost and possibly buy some copies someday...
Oh, but now that I think about it, I did buy a hardcopy of a volume 1 of a Webtoon once in amazon in order to support my favorite author but the shipping fee to my country was too expensive and was even more expensive that the actual book that I bought.

It's good to see that so many of you try to support the author/publisher when it is financially feasible for you to do so.

For those of you who can't afford it because you're students or whatever, I'm sure you will do so when you finish your studies and have disposable income in the future.

I did buy the manga to support the artist that i like.

Didn't mind if i can't read it either.

Coz some of the manga would not be licensed to NA or licensed but not completely release *cough* like kodomo no jikan/nymphet

No I haven't used any of the links because I buy official english translated manga from a different site located in Australia. I would pre-order the manga I am interested in whenever it is close to release but I haven't been doing that of late because of budget constraints.

How much I have spent on manga is tricky because I'd probably be paying way more than most people since everything here in Australia is overpriced in comparison to the US, not to mention shipping costs.

If you had an upcoming official english release date for manga, the yeah, I'd be interested.

Have you followed any of the links to Amazon, EBJ, CDJapan, etc and bought any copies of your favourite manga?

I haven't followed links from here, but I have in the past bought the Japanese versions of a couple of manga that I liked. I got them via CDJapan. I was doing this before MangaDex existed, so I couldn't have used links from here. I still get each volume of 3 or 4 mangas that are being released in English; I get those via RightStuf.

How often?

With a changed financial situation on my part, I'll be sticking with just completing the series I'm already invested in. Plus after a certain Kickstarter for a certain translated manga that we've been waiting on now for three years, I'm very leery about the whole manga industry, at least as far as translations go.

And if you are willing to share, how much have you spent?

Over the past ten years, probably close to a thousand. I don't call myself a 'wastrel' for nothing.

What do you actually do with your copies, if you can't read it?

Like my anime figures, they sit on the shelf and look pretty. I got the Japanese manga because I really liked the characters and the artwork, and wanted to support that particular writer/artist.

Would a list of upcoming releases for new volumes interest you if we had it on the site?

I don't need any more temptation.

I buy manga if I like it enough. Maybe only around 10 copies now. I read what I can of it, until the complex kanji shows up (then I try write it in a translator).
Never done it through this site though, I just search directly on CDJapan. Amazon isn't really a thing in my country neither.

I've spent a lot of money on Amazon kindle and comixology. Some publishers provide 3k or 4k wide pages that look great on a tablet.

No, and that's because I have so many books on my shelves that I'm starting to loose useable room with the ones I have

Personally I'd rather be able to give the authors money directly via Patreon or other donation sites. Even though digital/physical copies of something is sold, why can't I just give the money to them directly without the retailers and publishers taking their cut first?

I never clicked through this site. If I want to buy, I usually go directly to the relevant page (for example, just write YesAsia, Amazon, or Bookwalker). Done.

How often?
Because I really like Japanese products ---veeery capitalist even though hurts my wallet. The answer : I do it, sometimes. But I'm still in college, so I will wait for a steady income when I work later. There are so many titles that I want to buy and it never discourages me even though it is blocked by the emotional pressure of rising taxes and the narrowing of my closet to make other room. I like physical copy, and that won't change for the next few years. I will buy the original if it has a small chance of being published here. Yes, do not expect that many people will have the same tastes as you and that sometimes does not guarantee it will sell well in the market even with a price benchmark that is increasingly shrinking to be purchased.

And if you are willing to share, how much have you spent?
I spend money that is quite abnormal in my economic situation, which I usually get from pocket money. Still around 1000+ yen. I buy diligently in one or several months. Not much. But I always wonder: I want to try loyal like Japanese fans who can buy 1 volume as much as 3 pieces with each goal: read, display, collect. But to do it I must have great guts! Just imagine that someone is willing to spend a lot of money just to collect different illustrations (only applies as bonuses on animate).

What do you actually do with your copies, if you can't read it?
I can read it enough.

Would a list of upcoming releases for new volumes interest you if we had it on the site?
Sure, why not? Every few weeks I routinely go to the sites of each publisher.
If it is planned, the display of new releases can also be seen from the aspect of many publishers to the general reader - and, God knows, people might be interested in moving on their own. But I'm not encouraging this to appear on the main page. Create a new bar with filters as usual for easy access (try to see the Square Enix site, the navigation is very good compared to others).

I don't buy from direct links. I buy a lot of English published manga from my favourite online bookstore. I'm from Canada.

If I buy Japanese manga, I buy digital only.

'this is definitely click-bait' *clicks* so glad you confirmed it for me in the first sentence.
I am a broke blue-collar, so... Not so much. But there is much praise and well-wishes from me for those who can, to do.

@swiftt - I will have to agree with you on that. I shouldn't be giving translator groups money especially when they pull hissy fit bull crap about sniping and boycott aggregators like mangadex. They should just shutdown their expensive websites and run a fb page or discord only. They run the sites just to justify getting donation.

I still don't think the cost to translate a portion of manga is that big a deal. Nobody said publish everything. For example - at first you can ignore most series that are not digitally drawn and only bother with redrawing art for the stuff projected to draw in readers.

The actual cost - is advertising the service. I can see the advertising campaign being 6x the yearly translation and publishing cost for 1 digital magazine for every demographic.

Its clearly a risk. No risk, no reward. Just cowardly and elitist - most Japanese companies are japan first and make 0 effort to sell beyond their boarders anyway.
