If you were given such powers at a young age, parents and your hometown treats you like this, you would develop like Greed.

I wouldn't say it was the FIRST time Greed has ever felt love. He wanted to prevent his friends from joining his party to protect them; surely he did this because, despite how emotionless he's tried to make himself, he loves his friends deep down. that's why he sticks with them.
