Wow, the manga literally explained it pretty succintly why they couldn't just simply kill the king and people are still bitching.
Replacing a dead king is not at all a simple matter, especially with what this one is/was involved in.

People are mad not because Loyd didn't do it, but because the author didn't. There are creative ways to write this route, first came to my head is that mana poisoning which this bozo put himself into that situation, second is coup d'etat which could happen because this bozo almost destroyed the kingdom, his serious sins brought up to light.

Yes there will be follow up events, there could be war, political unrest, riots, looting, you name it. But I believe it would make a more interesting story as we get more into this series' world, conflicts which cannot be easily resolved with fist.

A deep sigh for this arc's very cheap conclusion.
