Okay, at least him not thinking himself to be a capable fighter seems to have an actual reason, looks like using his abilities on himself used to strain his body extremely.

Doesn't really explain why he thinks his grantor abilities aren't all that good tho

Of course it´s hard to believe someone as Wim is really that "novice" as the guild master believes.

Now to see him grow more and seeing her also fall for him :p

Apparently, from his reaction here and what happened after the boss kill at the beginning, he couldn't handle self-granting before. The low magic reserves and the strain on his body made him pass out immediately afterwards.

Probably due to leveling up with the boss kill, or due to the number of grants he made with this guild, he managed to get enough body stamina and magic reserve that he can now, at least for a few seconds, fight in self-grant mode and stay conscious.

Which surprises him and lets him be aware of his capabilities... that Heidemarie know about all along.

That and the gaslighting (pretty usual in this genre) he was a victim of in his previous team explain the inconsistencies that the guildmaster here is feeling. If that's how it goes, it's quite a decent explanation, though the bullying part is getting a bit too cliche.

(Edit: reading back on the first chapter, he didn't pass out. But he felt pain so he rarely did it. And the time with the boss, when he reluctantly did it, he was told that he was just lucky and finished a monster that the whole team had significantly damaged first. Which was a lie, but he didn't know better at the time.)

Because individually/statistically, they aren't. When other people are doing double attack power with ease, or something like that presumably, a .1 boost to a single stat sounds like shite, don't it?

That said, he really should have realized the multiplicative effect his applying of multiple if not dozens of tiny buffs have by this point. Though I doubt he really will till the end of things unfortunately.

Partly because his buffs are layered, instead of all at once; as ThatNaiGuy put it, when other people are granting double attack power, a single 0.1 boost sounds pretty awful.

Mostly, though, because his grantor abilities were taken for... Granted (I make no apologies for that) and because he was subjected to horrible gaslighting by his previous party.

Strange, it seemed like the man himself didn't know that he had such power.
Not strange when you read the first chapter again.

So his previous party pretended that they dealt a lot of damage and that he just had a stroke of luck at the end when he dealt the lethal blow to the boss. Even though what really happened was that their damage was negligible and he was the only one who dealt significant damage, as analyzed by the guild later on, they basically made him think of himself as useless.

They stole his achievements and they were gaslighting any self-confidence out of him. It's an overused trope, but it's a rational explanation.

Ah yeah, they did explain that his general ability is even weaker than other grantors, giving buffs to every part of the body separately should still give him a hint that he might be pretty skilled

i just realized that the human body has 206-212 bones roughly, and around 600 different muscles... imagine applying a (1.1x1.1)x200 for bones. or (1.05x1.05)x600 for muscles..... its insane.
