Becoming less and less of an interesting character, one chapter at a timeI love this kid. He's always growing, always learning.

The old man was probably a boss or something. He just want to feels like there's someone working under him ( Ishidaira mentioning the old man just wants to feel important ). In short, just a superiority complex, ie he's better than them and they should serve him first no matter what.I do wonder what is his obsession with those magazines are.... Is he trying to start his own business, looking for trends that will help him climb up the business ladder or something else entirely? Also, it feels weird to me that he's way too dependent on those magazines at this day and age but then again, there are still people in Japan who are still rocking an old flip phone for years now.
Loads shotgun menacingly
where are this ninjas from the cutting onions clans? I have something for them
Oof that's a lot more worse to deal with, a superiority complex. I mean, reading magazines are fine and all but they can be behind on several things as well and there's a lot of stuff out there that it might be better to read it online. He'll never be able to get that advantage he had years ago when the younger generation is more capable in looking where to monitor stuff faster and possibly easier than him. He's going to be in an endless loop of suffering until he snaps. The old man was probably a boss or something. Makes me tear up seeing him grow up, this really is one of the best comfort mangaIshidaira has really developed from how he was at the beginning of this series.
Shirai? You don't need to worry about Shirai. He's surrounded by a whole bunch of reliable friends 24/7. Haven't you heard that muscles never betray you?I'm honestly concerned about both Hayasemaru and Shirai, they both seemed to have went through a lot that made them somewhat jaded and/or disliking people. Hopefully Ishidaira can help them move past it, assuming that's even possible.

I reckon he's trying to desperately keep up with other people at work. Ishi-boy noted the man is worried about being late to work, so he needs to read the magazine as soon as possible, so that he's all the time up to date when talking with his colleagues. Considering he's still working, he should be using a PC all the time, so reading it online shouldn't be an issue. Why doesn't he do that or buy a copy? Obviously the magazine would be paywalled even online. Does he actually have money problems? He didn't look like gambler, so maybe there's a failed business in his history, and he has got a lot of debt to clear, so every yen counts. That could easily be a source of stress, which would contribute to his bad behavior.Oof that's a lot more worse to deal with, a superiority complex. Hmm. Idk man. The way he bragged about being in a private field and is better than the rest of the who's working at government job seems to imply a superiority complex. Would also explain why his wife is fed up with his behavior. Bastard probably treated her the same way at home. Lucky our Ishi-boy doesn't just deck him in the face. I don't really see why a private sector guy with a superiority complex would even visit a library. Wouldn't such a person want to get a pristine copy for himself? He ought to be one of those people who think a library is for the plebeian who can't afford their own magazines and books. But who knows. That being said, I'm not denying the superiority complex entirely, I just don't think it plays the only role in this.Hmm. Idk man. It's not about the magazine or the library in the first place. He can surely buy the magazine himself at a bookstore with his schedule if he enjoys it that much. Remember, he always come to the library first day a new issue came out. Even though they always struggled to complete his demand.I don't really see why a private sector guy with a superiority complex would even visit a library. I feel like he definitely suffers from the idea of trying to be the most up to date and be at the tip of his game in his field to be able to get promoted and get more money for his family, my own dad suffers from this, out relationship is nearly non existent because he puts so much priority on his job and studying and keeping up.It's not about the magazine or the library in the first place. It's about the satisfaction he gets when the librarian rushes to complete his orders. Which is why Ishi-boy retaliation startled him. That's the other feeling Ishi-boy mentioned. Satisfaction. And also why his wife rejection to his order (stay at the hospital and take care of him) gave him a literal change. Perhaps he doesn't realize the existence of his own superiority complex. Him snapping at Ishi-boy made him aware of that and his wife rejection made him realize the weight of it.
And the fact that she still acknowledged his good points makes her goldI feel like he definitely suffers from the idea of trying to be the most up to date and be at the tip of his game in his field to be able to get promoted and get more money for his family, my own dad suffers from this, out relationship is nearly non existent because he puts so much priority on his job and studying and keeping up.
I imagine that the old dude probably had been passed over at times for promotions and that makes him feel frustrated, most likely also laid off in a few occasions, that is a stressful life to live, chasing the money trying to be better than everyone because that is valued in business.
He neglected his wife, and the fact that his wife held a grudge over him neglecting being by her side when she was in hospital really must have hit him hard about how he hurts others with his attitude and relentless drive to feel important or be important
