Is this really gonna go the way of ''Kudou tries to persuade Kokoro to become her new sadomaso partner lmao''
The cropped panel's angle makes it seem like Kokoro is still strangling Naoi. I think it might be more like Kudou tries to lure Kokoro off of Naoi to rescue her, since Kurumi can't help because she fainted and Naoi never fought back to save herself. I think Kudou is trying to mindbreak Kokoro honestly. Use everything crazy she's seen her do to bully her to the max. The reaction she'd get will likely be something.

Did Kurumi just knock out Kokoro or did she faint herself? Guess we'll, although it seems like she fainted. At least she recognized that Naoi came for her, before everything went to shit as usual. After this Kokoro has sealed her fate though. There's not much coming back from this incident, even though she never had a chance to start with. The crazy onlooker is not even a player, she just likes the chaos.
Ay but the chaos is kinda goated tho! me core. These artists and translators gotta CLOCK IN for me real quick because you best believe I've been checking for updates EVERYDAY for the past like 3 weeks or so. waiting for kokoro to be absolutely body slammed by my hg Naoi iykyk

Next chapter comes out in Japan February 18th, though it would be the 17th in some countries due to timezones.

i wonder if Naoi will even attempt to fight back. Right now I think both of her arms are free, so what's stopping her from decking Kokoro in a face with one of her free fists? I believe the shock / surprise from that would make Kokoro loosen her grip on Naoi's neck :thonk:

regarding this, @ShaneARang , would it be possible to have more aggressive call to actions to financially support the manga in your end cards? Like, I really want this manga to go on as long as the author wants it to and I already bought 2 physical and one digital copy of each volume, every purchase can count...

I see three potential reasons why Naoi didn't fight back.

1) Naoi thinks Kokoro has a point, in that Naoi always did intend to ruin Kurumi's life to benefit herself. So, Naoi might think she deserves what's happening.
2) Naoi's afraid that if she fights back that Kurumi would blame her and side with Kokoro, similar to what happened to her in the chapter 14 flashback. Kokoro trying to play the innocent victim wouldn't be surprising honestly.
3) Naoi's trying in a misguided way to follow her mom's way of pacifism.

Kurumi has been pretty consistent that her main tactics for dealing with conflicts is repressing her emotions and doing what other people want. She is learning to advocate for her needs and desires more, but it's still difficult and often more all or nothing for her. Right now she is very scared, while Kokoro is hard mode for applying this skill at the best of times. We also see that, despite everything, she still thought of Kokoro as a friend whose relationship she valued. It is Kokoro herself who rejected that this chapter.

A lot of people were wanting or expecting something different in terms of Kurumi's behavior. I find this realistic, as people don't change that quickly in general. If we compare to her behavior in previous arcs, Kurumi has been more bold and self assured, but this doesn't mean she is yet a character we could describe as bold or self assured in absolute terms.

Attacking Naoi would likely enough to get Kurumi out of her passivity and trigger the "all" angry Kurumi outburst, except Kurumi just passed out. This is a good setup for Naoi to do something knightly to save Kurumi and have Kurumi wake up next to Naoi some place safer. Though the author is good at surprise developments that defy expectations, so who knows.
Thanks for succinctly summarizing what's wrong with me! I'll be showing those first few sentences to my therapist. I couldn't quite find the words for why I related to Kurumi so much.
