It's more important to be seen as being "aware" and of superior moral to others on the topic. That's why the West falls over itself writing a million articles, research papers, and common internet rants attacking Japan over children welfare.
While conveniently ignoring (even the "scholarly research") the giant elephant in the room....the most "enlightened", culture war spewing western nations have some of the highest rates of pedophilia and child abuse in the world, and Japan doesn't even register.
Whether you argue if lolicon content helps mitigate real world abuse by providing an outlet, or if pedophilia normalization is a real thing yet Japan has much lower rates in spite of it, it's pot calling the kettle black, in the most egregious of terms.
Eh....oh right the manga. She's a dungeon whose intelligence and maturity grows with along with the actual physical dungeon. Call it a sneaky white-wash of pedophilia if you like, to me someone who has a problem with it has a problem themselves. Not only do they have problems telling reality from fiction, their own immersion questionably omits the setting in favor of their own pedophiliac view. Should we be questioning this guy instead?
Hm...I hope they don't omit the conversation about the ring entirely. The ring continues to come up as a minor plot device to help explain the setting more, and a little of how the dungeon features work.
