@CaTastrophy427 Thats actually exactly why translator notes exist. To explain these types of cross culture "miscues"?, if thats the write word for it. The reason it shouldnt be translated which i didnt adequately explain, because i didnt want to spoiler more than i had to, is because he doesnt actually get the joke. Everyone else including us the reader are supposed to get it but keima doesnt. Without going into spoilers he doesnt understand this worlds language, all he has is an "auto translator" which doesnt always translate things how he expects. So when he asks whats her name, it gets roughly translated to what do i call you. Then he hears i am called niku when she actually means i am slave. I dont if i explained that enough but i didnt think the manga did a good enough job explaining that whole situation and why when everyone else is in on the joke he isnt.

Oh, believe me, I know that, I read the novel. I'm just saying that it's better for the TL to write it as Meat so people get the joke, especially since the raw Japanese (in the novel, at least) uses the kanji for meat (when anyone but Keima is saying it) and also the kana form (when Keima is the one saying it). Like that, it's clear he doesn't know what he's saying, but the readers do. Since there's no real way to do that in English, TL notes are your best bet, however, many people often skip those, and since it gets explained soon enough (or it did in the novel) there's not a need to do a TL note this late in the manga.

@dstruktgnad @CaTastrophy427 we localized it to meat also it sounds cuter then niku also this is like only like ch 26 in wn i think its the same as ln but i dont have the ln open next to me atm. it also distances us from the ln tl a bit not that jnc is bad(i do like their stuff) its just better we dont use them as a guide, and official tl has some weird ass rules to follow.

@Randomguy01 only the Japanese have shit monetization models. Korea and China have way better models for the authors/companies(depends on who and what company)
