MC is a self-centered prick who doesn't even care or check on the person he "supposedly love" one-sidedly, like yeah, your love interest is an object of desire, an object of worship and not a real person with feelings and struggle, i have no pity, honestly, never even bothered to fucking check on her. Honestly MC dodged a bullet, cause she will be a fucking pain in the ass to deal with, someone who will pick a fight at every turn and hurl vitriol and hurtful words to make her inadequacy just a bit more tolerable to herself. Pain and traumas remain but it will heal, the girl has a self awareness that she's a bad person, but zero desire to be a better person. Truly the villain of the story.

This was kinda a "what if 3 people were mentally retarded and/or pure assholes" the story.

MC falls in love with the girl. The girl loves him, but sees how he barely progressed at all in work and maybe feared that if they dated he would even get worse - why she didn't think about dating him and pushing him while dating to strive for better? No clue. This situation created a goal in the dudes mind, he has some mental issues, cause on every step where he proven himself to be better than before - he at the same time ignored this and felt still inferior - like he didn't reach his goal.

He basically started pushing the girl he loves to the side so he could prove himself better. The girl started to have issues with all of this, cause his words, the way he gone about his "crusade" was basically stabbing her in the back, like her 7 years of efforts he done in half a year and told her its just "a coincidence". She started looking for a help, how to deal with his broken "quest" and her now feeling inferior to him, and him still working to even be better while still pushing her away and telling her he is not good enough.

They both basically brain fucked each other. She developed inferiority complexes towards him, he became a "better himself machine". His rival that helped him start this whole "quest" was also left in the dust, and the girl looked for help from him - how to deal with the MC. Their inferiority/jealousy maybe pushed them into kinda a relationship of two broken people.

Rival started probably hating MC and wanted to steal the girl MC loves to maybe fuck with his "quest". She felt so inferior, that when MC won another award and she was supposed to meet with him, she was scared shit-less of what to do/how to behave around MC. This pushed the rival dude to go after her, she let him "attack" her, and when she saw MC in the door - she was initially shocked, but then the pleasure came, the broken face of MC came too - she maybe too thought that this whole fiasco could break MC out of his "quest" or something. But instead they mentally broke MC beyond repair.

Now MC is "forever need to improve myself" idiot. We don't know if the rival and girl are still in relationship - but it doesn't matter - cause even if they are, MC will just see that as a proof he didn't get good enough still. We don't really see rival face at the end, and her face can tell us that either she still feels inferior to MC, or she realized how this whole shit broke MC and that she is like half at fault for it.

Either way this was more like a sad story of broken people. As far as it feels a bit "retarded" if you will, its still far better than typical NTR porn mangas where a girl gets blackmailed into a sex orgies cause of a photo of her and her loved one kissing. Aka this at least makes a bit of sense and I can believe people to behave like this.

I kinda wish there was a twin story - with a different ending. Where their sex-escapade succeeded and broke MC out if his "bettering himself quest". He drops out of the work, becomes a hikikomori shut-in or something. This could brake the girl too - at least to push the rival away, maybe some kinda scandal, or something. Would be more interesting and could have a potential for few more chapters - cause as is - the story is kinda done for, there is no use in remaking it in more serialized chapters.

It'd be interesting if mc becomes a hikikomori take a break for a year and when he left the company losts it's leader and it is in shambles later on with the new editors as that senpai and the guy and the mc just chills maybe join the rival company to get them to the top with his capabilities and hardwork and dedication maybe even get a lovely girl out there and get his happy ending and maybe she can fix him while those two are struggling to make ends meet and the senpai later on realised what she fumbled

On page 14 she was willing to go out with him and acknowledged his worth, but he wasn't satisfied yet.
He also, unknowingly, destroyed her self-esteem times and times again; saying "I'm not on there yet compared to you" and "it was a coincidence" while also achieving far, far more without needing her at all.
At the one and a half year mark, while we do not know the extent of their relationship, we can assume they're not going out yet, she looks broken, her self-esteem is at rock bottom, and the guy that "was going to be the next ace" is most likely in a similar situation. The end result is the two broken dogs end up licking each other wounds and comforting each other.

Let's be clear, the guy achieving so much is remarkable, it's just that his single-mindedness and drive to achieve everything alone made her drift more and more away. By the end, she knows she is still the drive that makes him going, and she feels guilty about it, but a relationship between the two would never work.
One thing that could have made their relationship work would have been her changing job at the 6 months mark, constantly being reminded how better than you your potential partner is, is unhealthy.

I feel like we'll be stuck in a never ending discussion, but here's my opinion, she didnt feel guilty while fucking the other guy while the MC watched because she wanted to hurt the MC for all the frustration/envy she felt with his success, the sex worked as a way to vent her frustrations and hurt the MC.

In the last panels a few years have gone by and the MC is giving a speech after yet another promotion and looked at her like he was asking her if he was good enough now, she realized that even after everything she had done to him he was still working hard to become worthy of her, MC's entire reason of existing was to work hard to become worthy of her, she felt guilty and looked away because she realized that she had essentialy broken him and made him become stuck in a never ending loop of improvement that will never be enough in his mind, because his mind is destroyed.

Honestly, I’m completely amazed at how many people try to defend this girl for her actions. As if she wasn’t the one who set those conditions when the MC initially confessed to her. As if she didn’t criticize him for being stagnant at his job, pointing out that he’d been there for four years without progressing, while his rival was being hailed as the next ace. And then, when he asked if improving himself would make her consider a relationship with him, what was her exact response? But let’s go with your logic, because I’ve asked this repeatedly, and no one seems to have an answer. Let’s say he did agree to a relationship with her at that time instead of telling her to wait. Would that have magically resolved the insecurities she had within herself? Would it have suddenly helped her improve at her job when she felt stagnant and wasn’t making progress? Would she have stopped being jealous of his success and chosen to genuinely support him?

Because if your answer to any of that is “yes,” despite knowing her struggles were internal, then that has to be one of the most ridiculous statements ever. don't think author wants this to get serialized considering he already has 2 works serialized at the same time. this manga was published (originally) in one-off Yanmaga XXX magazine https://bookwalker.jp/de25ce0ac8-5bd1-46a0-8cb7-94ca2024c840/ and its content consisted of many renowned ecchi (even H) authors chipping in with many one-shots (some were side-stories of an already running series).

Girl was normal. One could argue that she really had no issues. She had feelings for MC, MC had feelings for her, but she seemed scared of commitment with a "stagnant" dude, so she poked him a bit. Gave him a goal so that he would improve or at least work more - nothing really bad - accepting him and maybe trying to work together would in my eyes be probably better.

Dudes latches onto said goal - goes full ballistic mode - solo workaholic. Sure fine - good for him, but problem is he is blinded by his crusade, he doesn't realise that he "fights with imaginary enemies" - godlike images of the girl and probably Rival that he created in his mind. When the girl was happy to accept him, he already succeeded and became better at work than both her and the rival guy.

But what MC does? Tells her to fucking wait, cause his "better than her/rival" was just a coincidence - work of other people mostly - not his. That he somehow feels still not good enough for her. That he needs to prove to himself that he is worthy of her.

Sure I could accept that this goal could be a worthy one. Issue is that he basically pushed her, her opinions/feelings and their potential relationship into a side track. And then at every interactions they had, he face-slapped her with that idealistic non-existent image of her - slowly building up the insecurities in her - she probably started to fear that when he will finally deem himself worthy of her, she will no longer be worthy of him. He ignored her pleas that he is good enough for her, cause his goal to be better enough for his imaginary creation of her was more important to him - or rather he is to stupid/autistic to realize thats what his doing.

For fucks sake - at the end the girl was literally scared to meet him, cause he put so much stress/pressure on her with his successes dressed into his "belittling her - I am still not good enough for non-existent godlike version of you" knives. Dude was literally like "hey I cured AIDS, but we can't date yet, cause in my eyes you cured cancer, so I am still not worthy of you", while she is just a fucking nurse.

Were the insecurities her flaws? Yes.
Did he and his stupid behaviour created them in the first place? I would say so, at least he accelerated/made them far worse for her.
If she didn't succumb to the insecurities and NTR didn't happen would they end up dating? Probably.
But would that be a healthy relationship? Seeing how "autistically" he gone full blown single-minded workaholic ignoring others till he reaches his goal crusader? Probably not.
Would it be better if they actually dated at the first time she accepted him? Probably - either they would maybe create a healthy relationship pushing both of themselves up, or it would end up being some kind toxic one the same as above.

Do I defend the girl? No.

His goal to be better also created an idealistic image of the girl he pressured her with, she succumbed to insecurities created by that and wanted to run away, and by doing so she hurt him, but he was already kinda broken - as his simple-minded crusade to better himself for her was an unhealthy one.

Thats really all I see this as. She fucked up and created a monster. The monster was scaring her till she succumbed and did something bad towards said monster. Monster evolved. Everyone is now fucked.
