What was the point of the gyaru in one panel? I thought she was going to be an important character because she was detailed.

@youdontknowwho

Is it uncommon to request receipt for daily purchases in Japan?

As we can see at the end, he got a receipt, so what he asked for was probably a "written receipt" or an "invoice", so he could present it to the financial department of his company and get his money back. (Since he was stuck in the mindset that it was a gift supposedly on the company dime.)

I.e. he wanted a document clearly detailing exactly what he had bought (one (1) gift box containing xxx and yyy) so the bean counters could see that he had bought what he said he bought and not also something extra for himself or some even more blatant embezzling.

@youdontknowwho Over here, if a store doesn't ask the customer if they want a receipt, that's a fine amounting to 100 000 Yen if a tax controller observes it. (Twice that if they are repeat offenders.)

So I don't have to ask for it, I just have to say either "oh, sure, why not" or "no please". XD

Man, I wish I could time travel just for the taxes alone. When I was a kid they were 5 times lower than they are now, it's crazy in my country. That 5% is looking better than the sweets.

I had forgotten that the main premise was that he had gone back in time...
For some reason, I thought he was an adult who got de-aged and he figured he needed to go to school to keep up appearances.

@Simpleton It was indeed quite weird the store owner gave him such a strange look for asking for a mere receipt, which he got anyway, as we saw at the end. I suppose the translator didn't catch the contradiction.

@brusama tyranny.

In the state I used to live in, Montana, there is no sales tax. A lot of people buy Bugattis and expensive cars in Montana because you can literally save over a hundred thousand dollars on taxes and other fees.

Why’d they put so much emphasis on the gyaru chick just for her to be a background

I thought it was weird the artist drew that girl on page 4 like she has significance but we don't see her again.

Lol so stressed, it is a bit weird but are ppl used to teens acting more mature ? Better to act like this than a group of rowdy teens buying and knocking stuff over and not bothering to cleanup after themselves

I know that this is just shoujo, but all this stuff about him being in the past makes me think "why isn't he warning people about all the terrorist attacks and disasters in the future?" Like he could warn people about Fukushima but instead he's running around buying sweets.

Other than reporting anonymously or being reincarnated with powers, those kinda warnings would either send you to an asylum or on a terrorist list , he's prolly not thinking about that compared to being busy as a teen lol

Plus, what kind of warning can he make?

He'd also have to know (and remember) enough of the details to be able to make a good warning.

And then somehow be convincing enough that they'd care.

Fukushima problems were about pride and prejudice (lost of things were poorly planned to save money, and everyone knew it was poorly planned to save money but were guessing it would be "good enough" - but to then rebuild it at even greater expense because some rando says something.. won't happen)

And terrorist attacks with nerve gas - if you suggest that before it happens, you'd be accused of being part of the culprits (or at least of having inspired them).

@Simpleton Ah I see. He was asking for a business invoice. I always ask for receipts so it really made me think "wait, does that mean I'm an old man already?"
https://mangadex.org/chapter/b71d8c78-8488-45c9-b65e-612839d88d5b endnotes lists the differences (since receipts are a topic there too).

He got a "register receipt", but wanted a "ryoshusho" a.k.a. "official receipt". The register receipt is just what you paid (and possibly some names of things) while an official receipt lists your name as the purchaser, your stated purpose of purchase and is stamped by the store (and usually handwritten).
