This whole thing feels sort of like maining as a cook in an MMO. I would have considered trying such a thing in FFXIV if you didn't actually need to play the main story quest lines to be able to travel to any new areas. Seems like sort of a dick move to make all the crafting and gathering professions pretty capable of wandering the lands relatively worry free... but gatekeep them with mandatory combat quests.
