Aint no way they just used printer paper and clear scotch tape with the words "Notice of Forclosure" on the door

Birthday present wholesomeness.

We almost had one chapter just full of wholesome good vibes until that last part. Can't the conflict wait just a little bit more? I guess this is his grandpa's scheme in motion. We do have to come back to that eventually, now that his birthday moment has passed, but man they just can't catch a break.

I don't know how Eiji will fight back against his mother's family's harassment of them (short of somehow taking over as the grandson), but if Aoi knew she'd probably enlist her own family's resources to help. At least her family supports them, so it's not truly a bleak "them against the world" situation here.

So like, one thing I've been thinking about for a while is the whole situation with them meeting at his mother's funeral. It seems like she remembers him from then whereas he only has vague recollections (otherwise it feels like they would've talked about it openly before this). So I feel like the plan is to have this be some kind of climactic reveal at some point. But, it's such a lame reveal. For one thing, we already know about it beforehand so it won't be surprising for us as readers. And secondly, it's not like they're secret childhood friends or that he saved her life or something, he literally just met her one time and gave her a flower. Like big whoopie doo.

Also, foreclosing his house feels like a super weak attack, like a problem that can be resolved super easily, especially since Aoi's grandfather approves of him.
