This is really refreshing. It's established there really is a big gap between him and his old party and he really has to catch up to them and earn his place. But at the same time, the misunderstanding and everything is cleared up to an extent.

Art shown cover of Vol.3 and this is clearly just end of Vol.2 so I assume we aren't catch up to the source yet, are we?
I'd be glad if that's the case :glee:

idk man, a story of the MC trying to get back to where he was before is kinda boring, I would prefer if he was doing his own thing instead of playing catch with his old party. It feels like danmachi with Bell's whole thing being to want to be as strong as blondie. It is destined to be an "omg! I got stronger! But not strong enough!" forever. I'm not a fan of the MC whole goal is to be someone else

yeah nah... it's refreshing after get this type of "comeback" mc... being stronger and stay with the new party for the whole story just lame... I would like to see mc keep proving himself that he can stay with his childhood friend (it's haram so we know how it goings)

Wait, why tf was he the one apologizing for not seeing them, they were the ones that “respectfully said he’s not needed.” Or am I just dumb and not understanding things? Also, It’s totally gunna be annoying if this is another one of those series that has a ton of people constantly watching/spying on the mc knowing exactly what he’s doing and where he is, but somehow he’ll have zero clue throughout.

I personally like the idea of the MC having a goal and ideal of getting to the level of where his former party is. Its clear that those people and the time he spent with them is something that he cherish greatly. From we have seen they cherish him as well, to the point that they don't want him dying doing something way over his head, but expressing their joy (if off screen at times) at his attempts to get stronger and catch up with them. Its not for everyone, but I enjoy the dynamic greatly.

Hasn't that been explained before? He was weak and he felt sorry for them. The party leader didn't want to expel him but had to because she loves him and don't want him to get hurt. That's the whole point of the story. None of the other girls actually hate him, it's been made without agreement too.

Eh, to me this kinda feels like an abusive relationship. Where the "abuser" (the girls) leaves the "abusee" (MC) and the abusee is trying everything to get back to the abuser due to psychological issues. But maybe i'm projecting something even though i'm single...

Nah bro. Those girls kicked him out of the party because missions are become so hard to him (due to his weakness) that is putting a high risk to his life. They explanained that at the beginning

I mean, that's the basic idea of a hero's journey, a story outline I wish more of these would follow rather than just having them wander around aimlessly.

One of my favorites, Null Poison, follows that pattern really well. I would say it's significantly better than most narou-kei novels/manga because of it. He gets forced out of his position due to a worsening circumstance, goes out and meets people that he changes and that changes his own outlook, figures out himself and his powers, journeys to find a mythical elixir and legendary sword, comes back and wins the fight, and now he and the position he fought to reclaim are forever changed by the experience. He doesn't just go back to being the heir of a noble swordsman family like before,
he starts a rebellion of slaves and peasants instead due to his experience fighting alongside the slum kids.

Similarly, him returning to the party isn't just getting back what he already had. He was there but only because they like him. He has to change his abilities and image enough that he wouldn't be seen as, essentially, a useless harem protagonist and, instead, as someone worthy of being there or even leading them.

You guys are making a great job with these releases, thank you very much for your consistency. I guess we're all caught up with vol.2 now, I know vol.3 has been out for more than a month now but I can't find the raw anywhere online, so unless your team has purchased it or have another source I guess we are going to be waiting a while for new chapters.
Regarding the story, I've been loving it so far,it's hardly original of course but I like the MC isn't OP right from the start, he has a powerful new skill but he isn't immediately already better than his original team, like he would be in an inferior story, and actually having to strategize in fights and be good at working with a team instead of carrying them, good stuff. Extra points for the fact that the former team isn't a bunch of cartoony assholes, deduced points for making them all in love with MC, a few bonus points for having a trap in the new team. And the art is great, truly elevates the action scenes.

or even leading them
Taking into consideration some of them are even spying on him, showing that they are not only strong but also have an information network which make them clearly smart, I don't see how possibly he, who as far as we have seen is not smarted than the average person, could lead them, apart from the fact that they like him so they might just do what he ask.

You talk about the "basic idea of a hero's journey", I don't disagree with you, the problem is the end goal being literally just becoming as strong as someone else instead of becoming as strong as you could or as strong as you need to become. I don't feel that a protagonist who follows behind someone else's shadow is their own person, but just a forever wannabe. Instead of someone who is trying to become the best version of themselves, that's way more interesting. In this case it is just a "we already have 3 of them, the mc wants it to be 4 for them, that's it"

To me, the past few chapters established that his old team was really 'the real deal', not just the number 1 in name like others in this genre. They really can destroy high level monsters with ease while this chapter establishes that MC, despite having the unique skill, still struggle against a more advance monster. He was really hard carried by the team and so, if the team doesn't really have to look after him, they could be moire efficient or go to more advance area. In that sense, he really was a dead weight weighing them down. So, that apology was probably for that.

He is good for his level, but the level gap between him and old team is still too large(75 vs 25x). His advantage over average player right now seems to be that he can do above average DPS (from pretty much 0 DPS before) and, more importantly, has the experience of playing the game with pro player and know advance strats.
