Leold absolutely shat on Sieg in the WN and went on to get the runner up spot(and he lost because he passed out from using a new magic he developed alongside Charlotte). It was his performances that ultimately turned the public's evaluation of him to the point they were cheering him on in the Final.

I'm curious how the WN and LN differs, because the manga made me feel like this was one of those stories that shouldn't have been an isekai tbh.

The story seemed to be focused on redemption, but the guy in question was dead and the "new" Leold had to prostrate himself to everyone for 20+ chapters to everyone for crimes he didn't commit, one of which being rape. Yeah, I'm very conflicted with how I feel about the manga.

It did feel somewhat refreshing to see people finally refuse to accept the reformed protagonist. I've seen too many stories where someone reincarnates as a horrible villain, do one or two good deeds, and everyone starts fawning over them.

The problem with the manga is that Charlotte, one of the most important characters in the WN never appeared. She's the one person he's trusted with the knowledge he's from other world and she makes use of his knowledge of the game's plot and from the otherworld to help develop new technologies, magic and better the lives of the people of Zeat and ultimately the Kingdom. It is one of the underlying reasons the Princess wants to marry Leold, they fear he'll defect and take all his knowledge and tech(not to mention his relationship with Charlotte, the most powerful person in the setting) away with him.

It was quite brief but I found how interesting it is because this is one of the 'reincarnated as the male villain' stories out there where the main focus was the MC's quest for redeeming himself for something he did not inherently do.
Most of this kinds of stories are set when the character in question is yet to perform his/her villainous acts which lets them do things to divert from the supposed fate. This is one of the few ones I've seen where the damage has already been done and is already seemingly irredeemable for the reincarnator to escape his fate.
I quite liked the plot acrobatics that took place. Quite lukewarm all in all but still nice to read.

I saw the comment at the top about a character Charlotte, and it does indeed sound like a lot was cut and could've been far more interesting. Especially with all the new age tech stuff.

Also they completely forget the Maid from the first chapter... I liked her... she was the one I was shipping with MC. (Forgot his real name if they even gave it to us).

Princess is nice and all, but the maid was there supporting him from the start of his journey.

p.s. does make sense that it was axed though. And I reckon it's because of cut content, there was not really much to go off of after this arc.
