Yeah, some argued that they're just using bots and scrapers to DMCA everything they can. Similar to fakku and irodori that auto DMCAs any uploads of artists or magazines they have licensed on sadpanda, even though they're never going to make official releases of them. I've seen releases be removed like 10-15 minutes after uploading on sadpanda.

I still think there might be some logic in this insanity, but time will tell I guess.

Irodori is on the Do Not Upload list, and Fakku is only allowed if uploaded by the official Fakku account for the site

I read a lot. There's no way I can afford more than, let's say ten tankobon per month. And that's assuming I would stop buying games and other books. And stop every subscription services remaining.

These mangas are not cheap
I buy everything I scanlate both digital and physical, and I also buy and provice raws for some groups, and I buy raws for some manga I really like and want to support.
Of official translations I've only bought Frieren and Bocchi though to give away as gifts.
I don't really see any big point buying offcial releases, but I like buying raws to make the manga avoid the axe.

Sadly as an end-user I don't really see anything that I can do :nyoron:
Subscribing isn't available as an option for me and only thing I can do is refuse to read from ad-ridden aggregator sites still. Tachiyomi-like apps are phone app only too...
Y'all got any ideas? Cause I'm all out atp :nyoron:

Torrent. Google about dekai manga archive on nyaa.
Download from scanlator's website.
Read novels and other books.
Never buy the official release again.

That sort of thing.

  • Does NamiComi own MangaDex?

NamiComi has accepted to take management of the site and its domain; no transaction was performed

I hate to be that guy but one of the Mangadex developers, Tristan9, is the co-owner and Chief Information Officer (CIO) of NamiComi and I'm fairly certain you have been VERY reluctant to disclose this while it has been taking money multiple ways through advertising on this site which is at least one big ethics violation.
So yes indeed no transaction was performed because the call is coming from inside the house and the parasite is now puppeting MD's corpse, well done. Now the answer I want is how long were you planning this, the DMCA just being the excuse to officially announce the handover?
The answers to "Are you shutting down?" and "Are you becoming Crunchyroll?" should definitely be a hard maybe at this point.

In my opinion shit's fucked and I have just seen a beloved icon murdered right in front of me, hooray!

Honestly if they're trying to go legit from being a pirate site, ala Fakku or Crunchyroll, they are very late to enter the market. Comikey and possibly other ex-pirates sites did it first. And Comikey is not doing well, right? They dropped a lot of translations. Probably min-maxed and only keep translating stuff that bring net money the last 3 months or something like that.

Comikey is basically Jamini's Box. I haven't been paying attention lately, but usually these smaller licensors usually drop anything that doesn't sell. They're not like viz and yen press who'll translate and make official releases regardless since they're big enough to handle a loss.

I cannot find it through main site navigation.
Under "MangaDex > Contact" is a link to copyright, but that has no link to this (new?) FAQ.

Also, T10_ has seemingly not made a library exporter yet here 10 days later (I know its not giving them a lot of time), thus I have begun myself (I assume others are making their version too - mine will be a Chrome extension). There exists tools to grab manga data, and even for offline reading like A manga downloader and offline library manager, but it cannot access my library - its manual duplication of series, which is a hassel for me - and most others I assume.
It would be truly odd, if I am the first to use the API for library export considering how long the API has supported it.
