New manga comes out. First few chapters are amazing. Then you find out it isn't all that different from the others. Maybe I'm just burnt out.
Yes. Sometimes, an author comes up with a really interesting idea. But then, it feels like they can't fully develop that idea and end up falling back on the usual clichés. In this work, for example, I thought the idea of him being the lord of a remote frontier duchy was really cool. I also liked the fact that he had an arranged marriage with a defeated noblewoman who still bears a large scar on her face. I found that premise original, and like you, I got excited about it. But now, it’s turned into just another “medieval school life” story. I’ll still keep following the series—I don’t mind clichés that much. But I won’t be reading it with the same excitement I had during the first few chapters.

I like my coffee like I like my men, not all stuck up and really strong with a barrier around it and hot
I said this to the barista at Starbucks and they asked me politely yet firmly to leave

No wonder, Starbucks are now reserving their human trafficking operation to select clientele and you are clearly not on that list. Try Wendy's.

Neither the premise nor the developments are at all original. It copies a lot from Mobuseka. This whole "dungeon event" is pretty much ripped off raw to the small details.

Could just be that the setup for the rest of the story is slow.

Now, this is pure speculation: We know that there's at least one other intruder that is influencing the plot, but we don't know to what end. Right now, we're stuck with "medieval school life" story because that's really about all we can do. It could be that, once the intruder is more exposed, we stay there; be a real bummer, but that's one possibility.

However, is pretty clear from this chapter that the Headmaster knows way more about the situation that he has said. His reactions do not match with what we would get from an original noble school drama. Then, there's his spiel about fate, and particularly Mariana's fate being somewhere else.

All this is really a roundabout way to say, let's leave it in the oven a bit longer. It looks to me like the author is setting up for something, but we're stuck with the school life stuff until it's all ready.

Is this manga and evangelion universe connected? That barrier is basically human AT-field that can block not only emotional attacks, but also physical ones!
Nah man, it's not even octagonal!

The answer to both of these points is about The same: It’s what the audience of this genre wants.

Not people on an English pirating message board, but in Japan. They may say they want something unique at first, but then sales point it toward the same generic tropes. It’s not copying from a more popular work (well, not completely), but it is following the template.

tbh, I kinda wished they stayed on the territory too. I don’t even remember the parts of the novel I read a few months ago, which I guess is a good thing since I’m still enjoying the manga. I do recall that I was mad he didn’t take his Gojo like abilities to the extreme. He should be able to do a lot more than he has been doing.

I know this is very nit-picked but couldn't help but notice their right-leg belt strap. It has absolutely 0 function other than looking cool. What is up with mangakas and belt straps everywhere :shamihuh:
I think it would originally be for some sort of sheath? With two points of contact. One to mount it at your waist, then the other to prevent the sheath from flopping around?

But yeah with the girls not having a sword/dagger and most likely not every girl in class being left handed, its just there to only compress your right thigh i guess :p

Happens a lot, it's the promises and expectations. but it just goes into cycles of poor/immature writing in most cases, i dunno your age but i'm 26, reading manga/watching anime since about 11. Things do get boring or repetitive most of times nowadays.

If i would whish for some originality in this i would like if Ragna said "fuck it!" for this school, stayed in his territory and developed it as a mercenary fief. Take Mariana with them and give her purpose and a future. When his territory is more strong and prosperous he can resolve the future problems that the fake FMC will cause anyway with more easy, not this stalkerish but don't confront directly approach.
Could be an ass story? maybe, but it would be more '''original'''. :pacman:
Those otome stories regularly come with a world-destroying last boss or something. So bunkering in your territory might not be a viable option. It makes sense to at least keep an eye on the main stage that is the academy.

But yes, the last chapter also felt like the same development I have seen in 10+ other series. Only original thing is the focus on coffee.

Idk why I liked the first few chapters so much? It happens every time with new releases.
Reading up to where the novel is at right now, trust me it is a slightly standard isekai, but there is a quite intriguing twist of how the kingdom and its barrier were formed so I'd at least check that out when it gets to there (it'll take a bit)

I'll be going on a hiatus for a long while so I'll be stacking on a lotta chapters.
