I see two possibilities:
  1. His parents moved to a different apartment.
  2. His parents were somehow among the victims of the school building's collapse.
His reaction is (naturally) childish. He should look up what did happen to his parents. As his next step should be contacting authorities, he should simply also ask them about his parents.

(Sadly due to the lossless PNG being over 2mb, imgur gave back a lossy JPG.)
It's pretty common for parents that lose a child to not be able to stay in the home they raised said child. They often go back to their own parents or other family for a time then move into a new place. Though it is a little odd, in this case there are many bodies, yet a entire floor vanished with no trace, no bodies for those on it. Do to this mysterious element many would dispute that they are dead, cleaning up his room implies they have accepted his death. Even if they are staying with their own parents or family they would probably not have cleared up the place and fully moved out in two months. The typical progression would be they would remain in grieving for a few weeks, then family steps in and gets them to come to their place. They would try to convince them to move on and sell the place, but it should barely be on the market by two months, let alone moved out of, assuming its really only two months.

But yeah he should look for more info first as there are many possibilities.

??? What do you mean cut him some slack, I wasn’t even shitting on him…? I just commented on the fact that we haven’t seen him in quite a while and there was a significant change.
hahaha I was refering to glasses and the other classmates getting mad at him for not trying before going to japan.
sorry I see how it could be misunderstood.

What the fuck is happening
this is so dumb
how the hell did he get to that conclusion at the end
this whole manga is so dumb
give me back my feelings of “something bad is gonna happen to him”

MC is simultaneously a doormat and a god

this manga feels like it was axed with how fast HUGE plot points/conflicts that were the basis for entire arcs are being summed up with “ahp everything is awesome”

That said I am rooting for Manon

Reinhardt is introducing the theme of this arc: Kento’s personal struggle of coming to terms with his past, and setting out to build his future. In the “Hero’s Journey”, we are approaching the later stages where Kento must define what home is to him, and secure it. If you know the Hero’s Journey phases, this arc taking us all the way from “Ordeal” to “Resurrection”.

Changes from web novel:

Generally conversations are condensed, and lighthearted moments removed to prevent tonal clash.
  • The Takayama convo was deeper, discussing the court squabbles that led Celia’s mother being taken hostage, the difficulties in securing her release, and whether Celia really wants to come over in the first place. The latter things will be shown directly anyway.
  • Donovan spoke for himself during the speech, and Kento talked to him after Takayama. Donovan encouraged stealing from Reisenburg, and Kento was worried about male students rushing to their deaths in the dungeon, leading to exposition setting up a sidequest there.
  • Kento talked with the named teens more, they cheered on how he beat up Camilla, speculated how summoning could be misused if it was public knowledge, and there was some quality time with Yuika and Manon. Manon was there because she’s taking care of the girls.
  • When Kento first returned from Earth, he called out Reinhardt to intimidate the crowd of students. It’s more fitting for him not to use familiars as a crutch.
  • Right before retrieving the cell phones, Kento and Reinhardt had an argument about Camilla. Reinhardt was concerned she was going to be worked until collapse, Kento said he’ll just heal her and put her back to work (this is what she did to the students after all), then Reinhardt complimented Kento’s cunning manipulation of her. It could be dizzying how much the book bounced between Lastock and Earth plots, cutting this helps cut down on it, and the conversation made the two look bad.
  • Before talking to the teachers, Kento had more quality time with his harem, well, Yuika and Manon, while Beatrice was left out yet again. It emphasized Yuika is going through a lot of emotions, and set up meeting Manon’s family.
  • Sagara making clothes for Yuika was probably added by the mangaka as an excuse to get her out of her previous awful getup, but illustrates what Klaus was saying with Sagara being a positive example for other students. Mangaka also realizes despite cuts, he still needs to show that Kento likes Yuika.
I’m getting the distinct impression the mangaka has no idea how to adapt a novel into a series properly and has zero idea what the fuck they’re doing.

There are a couple stories where the MC can travel back and forth between the two worlds. I hope this one is able to deal with the complexity of this, but I really doubt it

2 bucks says more time has passed in the og world than in the other world.
If it had been too much longer (I'm assuming you mean that at least a year has passed.) Then the demolition would be further along, and the offering stand would probably look different. It'd probably be an actual shrine, not just a folding table with flowers and snacks.

woah this did not go in the direction I expected, did not think he'd be able to use shadow movement to go back to their world at all

Like it's a wild speech about independence to say to a CHILD. If he was 17 or 18 like maaaybbbe I could let it slide. But he is too young to navigate the world without a reasonable person at least keep on eye on him not the crazy skeleton mf.

how old is he again like 15?
They said all the second year got summoned in the first chapter.

It was a middle school in the original web novel so 13-14 years old their.

But maybe they make them highscholler in the adaptation to make it more acceptable, so 16-17 years old in that case.

Edit: Confirmed junior High school in chapter 11.3, so yeah, 13-14 years old.

Gosh...

Oh, I see it now, gotcha. Yeah I agree. His classmates are still acting like brats and blaming everything on him. Pretty sad to see. I hope one day he grows a spine and abandons them all, he basically died once already; you’d think he’d be absolutely done with this shit, but he’s still getting stepped on constantly.

but Kondo, that short hair blond is good guy. he the one back up MC when other blames and pushing him. he also the one stop others ganging on MC when he first come and save them, and let MC explain everything first before making judgement.

but yeah, aside him and yuika and her friend, his classmate and schoolmate is ass. the hero somewhat learned his lesson and turn better.

I like how they actually talk about what happened in their original world. Like, yikes, the building collapsed and killed multiple people. It's not like their home world stopped existing when they left it.

I can also understand how some families would move away from said area if it was too painful for them to stay knowing their child died/disappeared without any explanation.

Other isekai just use the teleporting as a start, but i feel like its just a cheap method to give someone powers.
I couldn't wait and look in to the raws.. O'boy,
53.1 little freaks pose as Kento and record themselves for youtube - just before this he says im kento, and police says go the hell to your house you chuunibyou(of course internally)
53.2 if google translate is correct,newspapers say 48 dead 1525 injured(I don't know how) 209 missing
and he learns that his mother stabbed his father, father is alive :D but this made huge news that is why everyone cosplay as Kento :D

As I did previous post, web novel readers said this would happen back then...

It is a common thing sword and sorcery settings almost always take place in Middle Ages Europe, since life expectancy is lower like 35-40 it is common 14-15 is counted as adult...
