I figured we'd get an actual all-out brawl between the four of them, because it's the perfect place for the artist to show off in that respect.
But realistically, I cannot stand how Cross just ....doesn't do anything to stop it. Just some stuttering at the start, doesn't try to clearly communicate what's wrong--and more importantly what isn't wrong--right when they get there. And lets it drag on like this with no effort put into trying to stop any of them. (Because all he would have to do is scream "wait she didn't hurt me stop and listen please" and I wager they would do so, given how much import all four of them put on him.)

I will never understand characters that behave that unrealistically simply to allow "hijinks" to transpire, especially when the consequences of Cross not acting here include the real risk of widespread death and destruction.

But I get that the meta-argument for why he's weirdly mute and dumb in this moment, so I guess that's what takes precedence.

not clearly. His first words were "how did you guys find me?" and then when the Cat says something that sounds like sex, he didn't simply say "no she didn't touch or hurt me please listen", he just goes "well we did do <soul sensing>".
Realistically, the most efficient thing Cross could have done was "stop, I'm safe, don't fight, hear me out and I'll explain" and if no one listened at that point, then it's not on him.

But this is a formula used all over manga to allow misunderstandings to escalate like this, and it is forever a bit of a pet peeve of mine that clear and concise communication goes out the window at times like this.
I get why it does, because we get fight scenes and comedy. And that's fine. But it still strains credulity, given Cross wouldn't want anyone to get hurt over this, I would think.

He gave up on it fairly quickly though. Sure, we saw him dizzy, but given the shit hes lived through, I can't believe just being dragged around at high speeds is enough to disable him to the degree he couldn't even try speaking (even if it gets muffled in the explosions, or any other explanation for why it fails, etc)

sure. After the spells and fists started flying.

He wasted multiple seconds at the start not speaking up immediately, though.
Like I've repeatedly said. I get why it's written this way. We got a huge landscape-reshaping brawl and lots of flashy combat panels. That doesn't happen without Cross being slow on the uptake and stopping this before it starts, and it's exactly the sort of miscommunication that allows physical comedy and shenanigans all over all sorts of manga genres.

But given these four could realistically cause mass destruction being allowed to do all of this, Cross being aware this is very much the case, and Cross's general aversion to such things, him not making that effort to try and be clear about how he wasn't in danger right away to stop it, in-universe it's kind of silly that he didn't make every effort from the moment they showed up looking angry.

The fact that she tore her own head off & was able to regenerate from there, reminded me of Andy/Victor from Undead Unluck. Wonder if she can make clones of herself like Andy/Victor can. As expected that the encounter would lead to a somewhat mass destruction of the area. Cross will probably stop the fight before it gets to world ending levels. Thanks for the translations.
