Given the shape of his beak, he's a relative at lest, brother most likely. Miyuki is outwardly antagonistic herself, so that could just be genetic

He's the FL's brother - in the flashback, he was the one who first told the ML that "such and such phrase from FL" means something different from what it actually does, "because Kyoto dialect".
So he's part of the reason the ML is convinced that he doesn't actually understand his fiancee, or that she really likes him.
So, yeah.

I kinda feel like the grandpa should maybe tell the same thing to the ML, given his grandson's the anxious wreck who is convinced he's not good enough for his fiancee that he was set up with before either of them were born.
Weird for him to be all like "actually I know your grandpa and I made this arrangement without your consent but I'll just say that you can do whatever you think is best" to the one person who would absolutely think that backing out of the engagement would be improper - and who would be very much unable to communicate any of this to the ML.
Maybe I'm being unfair, just...yeah.
