Why would a foreign prince marry into a family ruled by idiots? He already knows that family is treating Bernadetta poorly out of envy. He's smart enough to realise Bernadetta's value when most can't, so he's not stupid. The future queen will just keep Bernadetta single. Maybe Bernadetta won't mind, after all this. She only has eyes for Seraphina anyway.YEAH!
I'm glad that Lucien is not giving up even though his proposal got rejected. From the sound of it he will have to marry into Berna's family instead because the Queen will not let her talent get away lmao.
What do you have against Lucian? He is the only one who understood the appeal of our girl BernadettaI don't want a chapter on this stupid, inconsiderate, incompetent, bitter, childish, lazy, judgemental bastard of a boy. I dont give a shit about his perspective, nothing could make me hate him any less.
I think they meant the little brat (Bernadetta's little brother). What do you have against Lucian? He is the only one who understood the appeal of our girl Bernadetta
Didn't you read that Bernadetta is planning a takeover of her family? Why would a foreign prince marry into a family ruled by idiots? @TinsleyNocturnalUnless the chapter shows him and his father getting punished for their attitude towards her, or there’s a big twist regarding his character, I don’t see why this chapter will be necessary either.
@KaarmeDidn't you read that Bernadetta is planning a takeover of her family?
Didn't you read that the Queen's purpose is not to keep her single, her purpose is for her not to leave the country as to not lose her talent, which was exactly what Lucien deduced?
I thought that was really clear. You can't even do that much?
Well, yeah, I do suppose there might be a long game of trying to change the structure of the whole marquis family entirely. Noble families weren't a meritocracy typically, though. In fact the whole idea of hereditary nobility is the complete opposite of meritocracy. So, Bernadetta would definitely need the royals' help to take over her family (unless she goes stabbity stab stab on her own). I admit I don't remember this series well enough to judge if the nobles are living in a constant fear of the royals sending them to the guillotine, but everything in the atmosphere of this series seems to speak against it. That is, even if Bernadetta gains a high position in the somewhat far away future under the new king and queen, she still wouldn't be the head of her family. Unless the new rulers allow her to found her own noble family.@Kaarme
I wouldn't say it obvious, no. The future Queen does hint at it, and Bernadetta does seemed determined to live upto her future monarch's expectations. I also expect them to try and poach the young prince for the future prime minister.
But I don't think thats the only interpretation that could have been gleaned from those scenes. Otherwise the little prince would be much more concerned about getting honey trapped.
Should read back a few chapters, Dearest Dipshit Daddy tries to drop the "girls should attend to their knitting while the men manage household matters" BS on her and she counters with a number of powerful Matriarchs who led the family to the position they hold.Well, yeah, I do suppose there might be a long game of trying to change the structure of the whole marquis family entirely. O . oI mentioned keeping her single offhandedly because that would actually be the best way to spare her from a husband who would try to suppress her due to feeling inferior (just like her family does). Not to mention she seems like the kind of genius who would be happy to concentrate all of her mind on a satisfying career.
She can't rewind the clock. The current marquis decides who's the next marquis.Should read back a few chapters, Dearest Dipshit Daddy tries to drop the "girls should attend to their knitting while the men manage household matters" BS on her and she counters with a number of powerful Matriarchs who led the family to the position they hold.
Plenty of partners to be found also among colleagues. Not romantic partners, but partners nonetheless. She spent all of her time studying and also remembers and applies perfectly what she learned. In contrast to that, teaching the idiot saintess was too big of a challenge for her, showing that random social interactions aren't her forte. Naturally she can handle interactions with intelligent people debating academic matters. She showed little interest in the foreign prince, despite the prince doing his best to show he appreciates her personality and competence. In comparison, she kept sticking to the future queen, whom she believes will put her expertise to good use, granting her a rewarding career.O . o
Her PoV chapters were full of confrontations with her family amd thespoiled saintess, but there was also a longing for an equal partner, someone to share intellectual conversations with. Someone that would not only support her, but also the kingdom she cares deeply about.
The color page takes several artistic liberties, major changes to the eyes for example, leading me to believe its unofficial.THANK YOU FOR READING THIS CHAPTER!
