Yes! Finally we get the reveal of Mirai's true intention. Wow.
What a way to finally resume this scanlation. @scarredpossum TYSM!

It's frustrating how this manga is clearly reaching its peak plot reveal until the original scanlator suddenly stopped for almost a year, and after the manga got an anime announcement. What shitty timing.

So happy you resumed it tho! Fucking hell yeah.

Chapter 43 Explained:

Ultimately, Mirai's goal is to eradicate the Ebisumori family.
Why. For Revenge, and saving the next generation.

The eldest daughters (new Priestess) are lead to reincarnate the family's ancestor diety priestess Hiruko-sama/Leech Child (that used to) grant them prosperity/etc.

The younger sisters are used as Womb-sama's/Great Wombs to uphold the blessings of the diety and setup the reincarnation,
by growing Hiruko-sama's power who's adequate spirit literally explodes the host to death to transfer to the incarnate stably through the chosen eldest daughter's daughter.
The umbilical cord of the womb-sama can also be used as a curse that can be inflicted on anyone the host wishes. The curse of the leech child.

... We see the past of how Mirai was treated poorly as a future womb-sama by her own family without care/love from her foreseeable death, and strangers bullying and abusing her for being in a cursed family, without Mirai ever knowing anything of the Ebisumori history like an outsider.
Until she found out the truth off her aunt Yoshie's diary, years later after she died, claimed to have happened in a traffic accident.
Upon learning of her loving aunt's (more mother than her own) insane cult belief and trust towards her older sister, Mutsu (Mirai's mother),
She devoted herself to destroy this mad tradition, and learned the method to creating a cursed leech child. By cutting and burying the umbilical cord from the inside into your belly with the dead unborn child.

All Ebisumori daughters can become a vessel to reincarnate the Leech Child diety,
thus all forms; either incomplete in a womb-sama, or stable as an incarnate, receives the ancestor's power.

Mirai broke the Ebisumori tradition of having the eldest daughters become the incarnate.
Istead of Nana's future child, Kaya stole the curse reincarnation transfer to become the new incarnate.

Every incarnate is psychic, and Kaya's literal split spectre is Hiruko-sama herself, most likely imbued with Mirai's rage as well, which is why Kaya smirked menacingly at Mutsu, and why she's so vicious when exercising spirits.

... Mirai's incoming unborn "spectre baby" is the curse itself. Naturally, setting up for the next incarnate as a womb-sama,
but using Aunt-Yoshie's umbilical cord, she will use it to wipe the Ebisumori to end this cursed bloodline,
which is why she started by cursing and killing her mother, and now is going for her older sister, Nana.
... The longer this power stays inside her, eventually it would kill her like it did her aunt Yoshie, leading for the Leech Child to transfer to the future incarnate.
Logically, to severe this curse/reincarnation, she will have to survive and abort this leech.

Fulfilling her revenge and possibly saving the new generation with Kaya Satou.
... Except, Aunt Yoshie's diary did mention that if the tradition is broken, "bodies and souls will be defined[...]"
Thus, spectres will take over if the Ebisumori aren't present to exorcise them...

I think some people here don't get the hint that Miria was never supposed to become the next Womb-sama.
In the diary, Yoshie wonders why Mirai never received any "edjucation" despite Mirai clearly attending preschool, which is equivalent to a normal education. it implies that Mirai's mother never wanted to continue with the womb-sama tradition.
Yoshie was extremely devoted to the family. Mirai had no devotion, which seems to be one of the most important parts; otherwise, the womb-sama simply could have birthed the child early and "undo" the curse before it would become potent enough.

I think Mirai herself is the one in the wrong here and is targeting innocent people for her grudge.

I agree, at the very least she wasn't brainwashed from childhood. And when she left, she wasn't forcibly brought back as one would expect. Not saying the mother was a good person but at the very least..

Just a quick note that Mirai had Kaya as a C-section, which curbed / removed the requirement for natural birth of the curse. This is why she wanted to avoid a premature birth and want to deliver naturally. Most likely, she never intended to have Kaya as a "normal" child in the first place, and this is her 2nd attempt at cursing the family with Kaya being the failed 1st attempt.

Personally I think Kaya would be included in the list of targets of the curse too, since she is part of the Ebisumori and all.

Something I noted is that the whole womb-sama "tradition" hasn't actually been going for that long. Like there have been three generations of them max, which is not really enough to know that it reliably works or that there aren't other alternatives or or that it won't backfire or...

Would be totally plausible for the Ebisumoris to stop doing it, even for completely selfish reasons.

snip just use the hyperlinks to read the post
I thought the womb-samas were the 'cursed suicide bombers' where both the child and mother would die to kill what they hated the most (ideally whomever is on the clan kill list). And there were also another group for reincarnating the orginal preistess to posseses the child. Hence why kaya-chan becomes pitch black when using her powers, she's basically an 'evil ghost' killing other evil ghosts in a child's body.
