my copium is going to be how late he joined their alliance, it feels like it happened on this floor when they started to get more people.

I'm guessing his negotiation skill activates as long as there's "give and take", and by "giving" him the meatbun, he was able to "take" his will to resist.

it's more of an oral activation, the bun was more of his thing, as we clearly saw the 3 adventurers get affected by his ability, notice their eyes when he told them to not talk back.
