Kind of interesting seeing a halfway-decent portrayal of sociopathy with Kaede. I'm sure there's some stuff "missing" from a truly realistic representation of someone with that specific neurological condition, but Kaede seems pretty well-written, all told.
The "pretending I threw myself in the ocean" bit only to smile at the joke of it, into the extremely heartfelt apology was pretty good. Ai's reaction...the fact she still sees Kon's face even now, made me wonder if she was gonna stay, or actually leave now that she'd found Kaede.

Of course, it won't be that simple, but I guess we'll have to wait a few months to find out her reaction to Kaede's declaration at the end.

I am glad for Ai for wanting closure and finally realizing that she wants to go back. I am just worried that this encounter will set her back again.

Inb4 there's a time skip and we see two graves and Kon being a simple worker and then the manga ends.

Not sure if Kaede would be sociopath, she's definitely selfish, directionless, insensitive, among other things, I feel she actually loves Ai even if in a twisted way, she simply doesn't know how to act it in a healthy way or what to do with herself and her life, now that she realizes she lost Ai she's crashing out and becoming desperate

Calling it, Ai and Kaede will have some dramatic moments, maybe Kon will appear and call Kaede on her shitty behavior, one way or another Kaede will realize her errors and become a better person, and like last chapter we find out Kaede is going out with her co-worker who's clearly into her but she never noticed cause she was too obsessed with Ai

Really, very few mangaka will write an actually sociopath and or unrepentant evil female character in yuri, hell, one of the few I know for sure the woman is definitely a sociopath or some brand of insanity, manipulating her girlfriend and some other dude into having a baby, it only gets messier from there and I think it'll end in murder, multiple murder maybe :v

I'm more talking about Kaede's character as a whole. We see how she was with that first relationship in college with the photographer, we see how she is with her husband, and we see how she is with coworkers, with Ai, and how she can turn on a dime in her behavior and tone.

And even sociopaths can build attachments and bonds with people, it just doesn't look like "conventional love". She's clearly fond of Ai, but that doesn't preclude my posited diagnosis, or that I'm even correct. Just that everything we've been shown with her character, does line up fairly well.

Other authors shying away from portrayals of characters in a given genre aren't indicative that it isn't happening here, either. It's certainly not common, but all yuri writers aren't a monolith or incapable of branching out.

Feels like the family annihilator route only for a mistress.

Kaede has apparently been with someone else enough for a neighbor to know, settled down and active with the locals, and living fine without her husband, but apparently it’s unacceptable her other woman on the side have any agency or existence without her.

Vibes were already so bad I didn’t want her drinking tea from Kaede’s hand in case it was poison. That rock toss was diabolical.
