As much I'm not a big fan of that trope, in this manga, it's much more believable.
As someone already stated, Kurokawa is already prone to the unpredictable side.
Also with Takahashi, not only the man is earnest and is such a good dude, the man has no self esteem (in a very believable way). It's very believable why he wouldnt believe the girl who looks like his favorite manga character has a mega crush on him.

It's just nice to see a love story that has well written characters
