90 minutes? Pathetic, I've been on longer drives (~8 hours) just for family visits lmao (though to be fair I did stay for a while)

Also Kogane hurriedly picking up her shed fur with the roller is so cute

We regularly make trips between McAllen and San Antonio. 350 miles and 4 hours, each way. We're fucking beasts over here when it comes to driving.

Kinda runs in the family, though. Mom's grandparents, long before they both got married and had kids, were literal dude-bros who'd drive brand new cars from San Antonio down into Mexico City... during the goddamned Mexican Revolution.

One of them went on to become a firefighter and was a driver for the big articulated ladder trucks through the 1930's and 1940's.

Guess who taught mom how to drive? :dogkek:

Damn your family is awesome. Mine has some WW2 vets, a Navy vet, a rabbi from Manchester, someone who allegedly dated Don Rickles, roller-skating delivery woman, and maybe some more.

Okay, @sarusa, so out of curiosity, what was the measurement Goro actually used when measuring out the spring water into the bath? Given 'a cup' is a set liquid measure in the US and UK, is that actually used in Japan too (and what Goro used here), or did he use something either metric or... old Japanese?

Also, how much did they send? If a cup does that much, and they have a whole box of it.... :meguupog:

Thanks for the chapter!

He used 'コップ一' which is 'koppuu', just 'cup' in English. Like you suspected it doesn't mean the same as a US/UK cup, it's about 20% smaller - 200 ml (240 ml for us cup). But they also just use it a lot to mean 'one glassful', which is what he seems to be eyeballing here.

And yeah, that entire box should have at least 12 bottles, 12 liters? Maybe 20.

I think there probably is someone out there who hasn't played Pokemon but reads manga, so the TL note is good. :headpat:

8 hours of driving sounds unsafe to me. :worry:

Have to keep Goro from making another embarrassing little homunculus with it, I guess. :nyoron:

Thank you for the chapter. I prefer fluffy slice of life over dramatic plot, so this was a treat.
There's a double "at" in the left speech bubble of the second panel on page 2.

Not really, though the first/last 1-2 hours were* on the New Jersey Turnpike, so yeah, some of it was unsafe. Though sometimes it was a 4-4 split with a motel stop in the middle, usually on the way there and not coming back. We'd also take some rest stop breaks anyway.

*I no longer do these trips since 2019, as I moved, plus this was when I was younger, so my mom would drive

Eh, if I get a good night's sleep I'm good for about 12 (with breaks as needed, so 10-11 actual driving hours) before I need to tap out, and I'm middle aged. You just have to make sure you have a comfortable seat and know your limits.

OOPS! Thanks, fixed. Thumper is on family vacation so did not give it the usual fine tooth comb.

Also, on the 90 minute drive - I think the big thing is that for hopping from Kanagawa to Tokyo and back most Japanese would just hop on their fast, safe, cheap trains and be there in half an hour for 500 yen (each way). You could probably still even take the box of water on if you had security check it! Buuuut then the walk to the station in Kanagawa and then to Goro's apartment in Tokyo while lugging the box of water would be hell (water is heavy), so she drove. Of course there are people in Japan who will drive from Hokkaido (with ferry) to Hiroshima, you need to drive lots of places in Hokkaido, and you've got lots of long haul (for Japan) truck drivers, but for most Japanese it's 'zOMG why would you drive so far?'
