like, do these people want censorship to happen or not? it's such a shame that the concept of middle-ground has died and now you must take sides else you're everyone's enemy (granted, the concept of "inaction is still action" isn't wrong either, so throw in 2-sideism for good measure, the third "centrist" side doesn't exist says people, only for or against)

The problem with the "middle ground" - who decides its boundaries (some people would consider the very existence of R18 to be unacceptable)? What do you do when boundaries shift (and they always do, back and forth) over time?

Quite a simple example of what is wrong with the "middle ground" - some people consider depiction of homosexuality wrong and as something that should be censored. A lot of people would go "well, obviously we shouldn't lower ourselves to those people's standards".
Other people don't see anything wrong with fictional depiction of things that aren't allowed in reality when it comes to works aimed at mature audience, who should know the difference (\cough\ Japan \cough\), but then then exact same "we shouldn't lower ourselves" people turn around and go "that's absurd - we should censor that", without seeing a shred of irony in that.

Had my main mangadex account for years, never felt a need to post on the forums (that's apparently a separate account for some reason) untill now. All I know is when I go to account setting I see the delete account option is "temporarily unavailable" which frankly seems sketchy as fuck.

It's been "temporarily unavailable" for the last couple years. I don't think they ever re-implemented it after the v5 rewrite, though it has always been on the list of planned features.

As I recall..for what that's worth. It has something to do with the creation of the forums and that attempts to delete accounts are almost assured to be catastrophic.

Yes, because of how the database was built, there is no good way to remove an account without causing a bunch of knock-on problems to come up. It's been coming SOON™ for about as long as we've been using V5 (roughly the beginning of 2023, after being down for about 21 months).

That can't be right since I checked comments by clicking the link from the chapter listing for 6 years before I made my first comment and I had to make a forum account at that point. If this is true then it is a more recent change and hasn't been that way for the majority of this site's existence.

I did like that office lady yuri part of it and feel like this doujin brings up some interesting circumstances for the staff to consider. I understand the way these titles were removed was a product of the urgency with which they needed to be removed, but since there is discussion of restoring the titles sans chapters, I wonder if non-offending chapters could be restored.

None of what you typed changes anything about inactive (dead) groups having their works uploaded. It's only a positive thing to have a dead groups translations uploaded.

MD will generally extend group locks even if they're past the threshold of inactivity if mods can make contact with the group and the group asks them to stay locked. But if the group simply disappears off the face of the Earth, which happens often enough, or the group publicly disbands themselves, then the group lock is removed.

If the group no longer exists, and nobody can contact a representative who can make decisions on their behalf, then that means the group no longer cares about their work. So why not unlock them?

Eh, I don't view groups as owning that copyright. Right to Translation is owned by either the authors or the publishers (depending on the contract). It's covered in the Berne Convention.
