That can't be right since I checked comments by clicking the link from the chapter listing for 6 years before I made my first comment and I had to make a forum account at that point. If this is true then it is a more recent change and hasn't been that way for the majority of this site's existence.

If it was under the V3 forums, that may have behaved differently - I never poked around during that era very much. But the current incarnation of the forums does behave this way.

I'm truly feeling like the unluckiest guy on earth... when I finally decided start uploading my current readings, this happens... not that it directly affects me but I can't associate myself with sites and names that do this b.s. I already don't touch anything "official" for that reason, imagine a pirate site (lol)... not a big deal tbh, after so many big names going down in a short space of time, maybe it's better to just explore other options (again). MD still good too in other aspects i guess.

I can imagine a lot of people found this thread while trying to figure out why a manga in an open tab or in a bookmark suddenly started returning 404. I'm no stranger to suddenly finding out all of the chapters in English for some manga being nuked - but to have an entire page being wiped from existence (while it still appears as the first result on Google for that manga)...

Even if i never commented before - this kind of BS would make me go to the forum to ask "the fuck?".

like, do these people want censorship to happen or not? it's such a shame that the concept of middle-ground has died and now you must take sides else you're everyone's enemy (granted, the concept of "inaction is still action" isn't wrong either, so throw in 2-sideism for good measure, the third "centrist" side doesn't exist says people, only for or against)

It's malicious compliance. From the admin's first post the new rule is that depicting sexual activity between minors is not allowed and you're a pedophile if you oppose. So they are being good users and helping the admin get rid of all the icky manga still on the site.

Batoto didn't die for this, MangaDex was created because Batoto wanted out and IIRC from a post made at that time, owner didn't wanted to pass the torch and just killed the site after like a week of that post.
