Who in their right mind sending cavalry into anything other than open field? Unless the horse being used is an umamusume then he's just sending them to death

Might be a case of a commander with excellent adjutants and over estimating his own prowess.

Could be that Zichtberg is a paper general, or one that lived long enough for no one else to dispute any exaggerated victories.
Alternatively our lovely Duches Ritreille has been planning his fall for a long time and sent charismatic yes men/ false intel to cloud and weaken his judgement.

A retreat across hostile terrain while dealing with an enemy that can easily raid them. A mess in an understatement, it's a catastrophe unless they can find more reinforcement.

I'm going to guess the enemy is also planning on stripping any resources from the surroundings to wear them down further.

Using the few houses as scouts can help preventing ambushes and securing some ground, but that would leave your army vulnerable to any unexpected raids. There really is no good options here.

This, it’s a fine attempt but annotations is more effective and time saving! No need to deal with giant sound effects like this when a

In the margins is more than effective

Thank you for the fine TL work. I appreciate your effort to translate the FX texts too, but to me, it is pointless. I don't mind seeing original kanji FX, no need to white em out or redraw. Just put "BOOM", "Toss", "Clop Clops", w/e sound fx texts off to the side.

Redrawing the smaller stuff where the kana/kanji are just on top of patterns and simple white space has been easy enough, and even on top of more complex shapes it's been fun to redraw it all so it looks nice for you guys. But this chapter was just... ugh. The first page that needed redrawing took me 3 straight full days of work, and then when I got to later pages that had a lot of fades, transitions, and details that were hard to repeat, it was just too difficult for me to do.

Unless someone comes forward to help with that then I'll probably do just that and put the SFX nearby or in the margins. It bothered me that I wasn't able to meet the expectation especially since I've been able to redraw every page prior to this.

Maybe I'm holding myself to too high a standard, but I want to give this series the treatment that other better teams are able to give.

The Duke clearly is a master strategist! He took a defeat in order to make the enemy feel confident, just so he could easily end the war.

I'm sure someone will write to Horse Guards about his majestic victory, he even sacrificed the colours in order to make it seem more believable!

I agree that leaving the large SFX in Japanese is the best. I'd bet most of us are used to it...maybe even prefer it. The biggest thing is translation. Which, btw, really liked the TL note on "scatter shot." There's a big difference between canister and grape.

For the SFX, yeah I'm going to do that going forward. Seems like the best option. Hopefully the next chapter will come much quicker than this one, it has a lot less redrawing.

At TL, Nobody really cares about the SFX that much, if you really find a SFX that will drain the life out of you, you can leave it and keep going.

This guy… if before he was being liked by the brigade now he will have a completely devoted fan base, imagine it, a single guy standing between you and a cavalry charge to protect you, that is instalove.
