It is caught up, they're adapting content that is normally not in the manga/anime and have even added filler chapters not long ago.

I'm also amused at the implication that Cid just writes stuff in Japanese when he doesn't want the girls to be able to read them, and Eta learned Japanese just so she could anyways. Maybe already came up; was his note that he challenged the girls to decipher back during the John Smith incident just chunnibyou gibberish or it was it in Japanese on top of being chunnibyou gibberish?
