"sir, they killed and ate our entire army"
@BobBiscuit

Not sure we wana go about confusing the little ones by saying you can eat these humans, but those over there are friends. Better to just leave it some are bad guys that should be killed and not eaten. Sure it's not as fun, but much less likely to cause random bouts off dead friendlies.

Think you misunderstood what the the strategist was saying. He is saying multi-racial societies are a diseased ideology that erodes their nation. They are an amoral nation of human supremacists, through and through.

I read it as the strategist thinks bias against beastmen is a liability and that's why he considers the troops expendable because they are composed of those who think they are superior. I may be very wrong and you are right though. However, he seems to disagree with his nation's ideology and sees it as a weakness.

A spy seems like one of the more tame "bad guy" options they could have gone with... I guess that's better than the stereotypical evil guy you'd expect

300?!? I thought there were like 50 of them. It's impressive that many could go in the town and not destroy more than a single food stand.

Focusing on lightning magic does make sense, but they're about to find out why you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket :dogkek:

As others mentioned, I wonder how chaotic the battle will be. I can't imagine these kids being able to learn to tell friend from foe so quickly.... Maybe Reisu will just take the flock and tell the other soldiers to just leave it to them :thonk:
It will also be tough to get them to fight, but not eat their kill. Definitely don't want to let them get used to eating humans.
Maybe Reisu will just solo them :lul:

No, because he followed that up with mentioning they were sending in disposable forces first, with thos forces having been earlier noted to mostly be fairly set in stone speciests, lead by more flexible thinkers.

your assessment is right, the strategist is rationale, flexible but also patriotic to his country cause he's a friend of the king of Nagan who also share his value that the growing human supremacist ideology is also a negative for the country

This is from me reading the available WN chapters, author please update it you left me in a cliff hanger 😭

Also didn't think the strategist would be that of a looker I thought he would be more older considering he's a friend of their king lol

My understanding of the text is that he is a hardliner that sees a multi-racial society as something that would lead to civil war. On page 18 he says...
If we continue expanding our territory as we are now, internal conflict is inevitable in an increasingly multi-racial society.
He then goes on to say that idealogy is a disease that erodes nations.

I'm guessing some of it is lost in translation, but everything on page 18 points to him being a hard line speciesist(spl?) who thinks a multi-racial will lead back to the beastkin dominating their nation.

If that's true, much of the context is lost in the translation.

and from reading spoilers that is likely true

The human supremacy ideology is the disease

So what I'm gathering from the comments is that this villain guy has a lot of nuance with his take on the beastmen and human supremacy.

I always appreciate complexity in characters, especially villains and their motivations. To see it in a feathered dinosaur mukbang isekai story is particularly funny.
