Looks like MC and Mai are already heading toward the next step before becoming husband and wife after that conversation in this chapter :meguu:

Mai really has changed. Kuroki has as well, but I think it's honestly more noticeable with her, and how much more outwardly thoughtful she's been over the course of the series. She used to be such an enigma, and then a goofball extraordinaire...but now it's like she's really grown up alongside her Kuro-king.
Just cool to see, when this series could have been a goofy lighthearted low-stakes comedy with romantic undertones, and then the author hits us with the incremental growth of the characters that goes unnoticed until you blink and go ".....huh. Neat."

Thanks for the TL.

Iwakura’s kept man means…?
sorta like having Iwakura as "sugar mommy" I suppose

kept man/woman is a "relationship" dynamic in which the partner handles living expenses / financial support / etc. and you just kind of freeload other than whatever the relationship entails

it's a term with negative connotations and more so for a lover / similar and not in the sense of a house husband / wife

It actually took me a while to figure out how to translate it too. In Japanese, it's ヒモ (himo), which has the exact same meaning as "kept man", so it's the only thing that really fits. I considered using gigolo or sugar baby, but those imply a sexual relationship.

I was actually curious what the original used - thanks for the context!

And now I wonder of by "kissed a kittke" she's exaggerating or downplaying what actually happened.
