We've learned more now about what the Beruks actually are!

So last time I was vagueposting about how I was a little disappointed... and that is because they are non-human enemies. I really thought it would be compelling for Avan to be forced to fight, with the intent to kill, other human beings, and have him explore and come to terms with his own moral qualms in doing so. Having a human enemy would also be compelling in a world where so far the enemies have all been demonkind, darklings, beastkin, and monsters. But, there's still time for that! I'm sure these won't be the only enemies he faces between now and the end.

While I do share in the disappointment of the Beruks not being humans with demon weapons, the concept of the weapons themselves controlling humans to wield them is something I rock with immensely. A weapon created with such finesse and quality that it supersedes the mind of the wielder is something I toyed with in my own writing (rather my failed attempts at them), so I'm happy to see it here.

Dang, I swear I read it like 6 times for typoes. The ei/ie problem plagues me always... thanks for catching them. I probably won't go back to fix it though - lots of work when the agregators have all already snagged it. I'll try to do better next chapter.

I know, right! When I first read through the chapters I was shocked! But it does make me think these specific weapons won't be the ones Hyunckel wields later since his weapons never tried to kill him lol

I mean, it’s a classic thing for sentient weapons to shut up when they have a worthy wielder or someone betters them

This is most likely where they will dive in the origin of Hyunkel's Magic Armor Sword and maybe Larhalt's Magic Armor Spear. I am excited for what's happening next
