I didn't even know that this was from the mangaka of HEN and GANTZ before reading it here, but it makes me think that if this was made by a no-name author, it would have been cancelled a volume ago.

I get that you might not like the direction the story is going, but it's kinda crazy to say that that means it doesn't have a plot. Maybe it really isn't "finding out what being a woman is like," but that doesn't mean that "having guys lust on [Gou] ad⁠-⁠nauseam" isn't the plot right now.

Also, comparing this to J<=>M and Until I Become Me just because they're all genderswap is crazy. That's three entirely different genres. If you're going to compare it something, at least compare it to Inside Mari or something.

The interview situation feels uncanny.
Yes, it's the drawing style, but a bunch of dark, long, haired girls with similar faces trying their best to get recruited into an idol group stirs something in me.

Like... This is the industry. And looking at them with sad, crying, and losing faces makes me feel... somehow concerned somehow. Like, they know "I can't beat her. She's more beautiful and endowed than me. This is not fair!".

Oku said that he was surprised that this manga was popular between females in Japan (before the stalker scene), so he wanted to "show how difficult being a woman is". And then dropped the stalker chapter. We can say whatever but he is here to fulfill some people fantasies (including him), the problem is that is from an unrealistic and immature point of view.

You really think Goh can survive without ID in Japan? He will be asked for a My Number Card just to enter to the building. Idols are a very big thing in Japan, and he is going to a popular agency for it. Maybe a underground Idol that performs in some shady concert hall could skip the ID (I don't think so but that would be more realistic). In Kojinsa Arimasu they solved this very quickly when they explain that the government has an special procedure for it.

And that is one the issues. The other big one is that he never expressed curiosity in become a girl before the transformation. In fact he was angry because the change and disbelief that the drug was real. And then from one panel to another he is acting like any 17 years old girl. If you tell me that the drug can provoke mental changes as well and everyone at least notice such mental changes, well, yeah, that could be cool. But no, lets rush to the main goal of this manga....

I'm not sure why you are assuming that the stalker scene was there to fulfill Oku's sexual fantasies lol. And I also don't know why you think that situation was unrealistic and "immature". In real life, even women who are not supermodel level good looking deal with being sexually harassed, stalked and assaulted all the time. Especially in Japan perhaps but not just there.

Ask some of the women around you if they have ever had to deal with an obsessed stalker. I bet at least a few of them have. Whether they've ever been groped by creepy guys? More than a few. Sexually harassed? Probably most. For a supermodel type like Goh it would most certainly be a frequent occurrence and constant concern.

Thinking that the stalker scene would turn female fans away from the series suggests a low understanding of the female experience. I'm not saying they "enjoyed" the scene but they can likely appreciate it as a relatable and realistic depiction of the kind of frightening situations and anxieties women actually have to deal with in real life.

oh, they are far from being unsocialized, they live together in a big ass house, they all have jobs, and they go out together pretty often, they are just early genX men with a different way of life, all of them being '' noble'' otaku, more interested by gainax and gundam than the latest isekai.

i think that's because they didn't wanted or didn't get the opportunity to properly get married ( and by that, it's a totally different aspect than dating or hooking up )
and by properly i mean, meeting throught matchmaking so you have a proper spouse your parent approuve, getting married, having your wife becoming a housewife so you end up buying a house, having one or two kids, and never ever have sex ever with your wife

They're men who have a new angle to their dynamic. They were men, body and soul. Now one's a woman and its fucking everything up cause they don't know how to deal. Someone who knows them and has their shared interests but now is a girl, the only thing that alot of them lacked. They're (and I mean this affectionately) losers who don't know how to talk to girls and their bro now gives them the opportunity to while skipping the friction of not being bumbling weirdos.

No, what I’m trying to say is that Oku seems to be rushing things for several different reasons:

• To appeal to the male audience
• To appeal to the female audience
• To indulge his own fantasies
• To keep the manga gaining enough traction so the publication doesn’t get abruptly cancelled

There’s no doubt that he came up with a genuinely original and refreshing idea. Most TSF stories have very abrupt transformations, both physically and mentally, and they usually approach the subject from a comedic or fan-service angle rather than trying to explore it in a more realistic way.

At first, this manga seemed like it was going in a very different direction with Goh’s slow, biological transformation in a very interesting environment. I was genuinely impressed by how gradual and detailed the process was. But then, all of a sudden, boom, the story slams on the accelerator and starts throwing in practically every fetish imaginable.

Who in his right mind will aim to be a basically national or international celebrity without ID, past, or training, lol. Well, probably with plot armor anyone. Ike the old man said, idols arent just pretty faces. Here is a good example of how could be for a TGed character try to fit sudenly in the same situation:

If those first ten chapters had focused mainly on Goh’s gradual transformation and how it affected his relationships with his friends, while keeping the whole situation at least somewhat realistic and progressive, that would have been great and fresh. But knowing how the world works here in Japan (I live here btw) I know there a lot of unrealistic situations here aside a drug that can transform someone like that.

And who represents Oku himself within the story? To me, it’s everyone. At this point, Oku is both Tera and Goh: completely obsessed with his own creation, Reika.

no, that's exactly how japan does job itw ( because being an idol is a job) you do it in group and you have to dress the same ( but since they try to be modern, you can wear pants instead of a skirt if you are a woman because we are not a sexist country, are we ? )

and that's why goh stands out like a sore thumb much more, even if the school uniform is the safest choice, he has no clue how he should dress as a proper ''cute and innoncent'' girl

I think the story makes sense how it's gone so far. They're a bunch of old otakus. Of course a cosplay would be one of their first ideas.

The scenes where she experiences the anxiety that comes with being a beautiful woman happening right away are completely logical. That WOULD happen, immediately, and you would be completely unprepared for it if you were Goh. It's not there for "fetish purposes", it was showing what would really happen.

Just imagine it. You've been a man all your life. You were never popular. You're old, you've always been mostly ignored. Suddenly, you've become much smaller and weaker. And every man you come across wants to have sex with you. Many are agressive about it. Some of them are drunk, others mentally unstable. It would be very frightening.
