Brahms, do you really WANT to know the truth of the hero's power? Do you WANT your brain to leak out of your ears from the sheer madness of it?

Brahms, that is a dirty trick, you fucking tick!

Wow, Daanya is surprised that Shachiku is using a legit leveling up method, rather than typical speedrunning shenanigans.

Wiping the fucking SAVE FILE!?!?!?!? That is playing outright nasty!

Brahms, you cheating bastard!

That languid vampire need to die a horrible death now.

Or better yet, an eternal suffering

What? Have they forgiven or shown mercy to literally any antagonist so far?
maybe they were referring to current Laspi thats being kept around like a trophy, instead of just killing it again. or maybe also the high nobles who torment the princess when she was a kid, which are not held accountable at all by the protagonist

C'mon man, this isn't a run for the leaderboards, disqualification or "fairness" aren't things you need to consider.
So open the console, target Kiira, and declare
setav Aggression 0; setTargetRelationship 4; self.StopCombatAlarmOnActor
And that should fix things right up.
Toggle boolean flags for mental influence to OFF, too, you never know if it persists

Maybe, but they literally didn't have a chance and in fact tried to re-kill him when they caught him.

10 bucks the manga will sell less because people will just wait for this "mind control arc" to end

Just kill the her while you're at. Don't give af for her reason in accepting the blood, she's so fucking naiive. So easily swayed by just by triggering her emotions regarding Ada's past. Like bitch, defeat all the demons first, then you can deal with the problems back at home. I abhor characters who end up getting manipulated simply because they're so short sighted and so emotionally driven that they lose sight of the goal. Mangas have so many annoying tropes, and this is one of them. Enemy promises them or talks sweetly to them about a soft spot, and the idiots just fall for it hook, line, and sinker. I would never trust someone after shit like that, I'd kick them out of the party. Ain't no way I'm going to trust someone with my back when they're weak minded and easily manipulated.

Rant yap session over

Honestly, it's understandable with mind control. It's not that she decided to succumb, but rather her having this mental hang up created the vulnerability necessary for it to work.
The much bigger mistake was just sitting there talking to him while knowing that she's under the effect of a spell. Should've just powered through the pain, while it was just pain compulsion instead of finalized mind control, and ran away to seek help, possibly just getting away from the mirror would be effective enough.

And just overall since it was a known potential event with a side quest and everything, I don't mind it happening, it's a known character flaw and outcome. But why the fuck did Shachiku not see it coming?
If Brahms specifically can do this shit in-game, why would he not react to the blood in chapter 28? If Kiira going crazy for whatever reason is a well known major game event, then why would he not consider the outcome of Kiira's seeming anger/depression, instead of just the reason for it during their flight in this chapter?

Just seems out of character for how it's been established so far. I had no issue with the corruption plot thread under the assumption that it was happening entirely on newfound "real game world" logic and falling entirely ouside of Shachiku's expectations, just like the bosses wandering around where they shouldn't in-game. But now that at the very least the Kiira corruption subquest is a thing in the game, and specifically Brahms corrupting her with vampire powers potentially is as well?
I didn't overreact after chapter 28, didn't have a problem like some people, assuming Shachiku was just being naive, not considering the general vampire power set, since it wasn't a thing in-game, but now? I have a problem and a half. It's really stupid.

There is a chance that in the original event that Brahms wasnt the trigger. Its not like Brahms manipulating one of the sages was in the game since Shachiku didnt know about it. There is a non-zero chance that the original event came about under very different circumstances. Brahms having mind-control powers may not have been in the game or if it was the ability was treated differently or rendered ineffective due to the powers of the hero as it was caught early. There is a non-zero chance that any humanoid enemies you encounter on the area to fight Brahms are revealed they were controlled by Brahms in side content but the actual conditions for that level of control wasnt ever stated so the default assumption was that they were willing thralls or something.

Maybe this event normally comes about if you level Kiira up with unpurified magic stones enough times? and/or if you fail to choose enough correct decisions during character moments to circumvent this descent.
Shachiku was caught off guard and didnt seem to know what the "bruise" Daanya mentioned meant. We know that the bruise is the mark that reveals Brahms had control over the target as it was on Tesset but i think that fact wasnt mentioned to Shachiku. So Shachiku is too used to the game event and didnt think about alternate ways for that to happen.

Sure, but, like I said, just the fact that it's a known major event and character progression outcome makes Shachiku's lack of worrying about the outcome of Kiira being upset stupid. Brahms being the original in-game trigger for it would only "improve" it from being regular out-of-character stupid into absolute retardation. So yeah, probably wasn't the case originally, but if it was...

And yes, it could be an unpurified magic stone event (though I doubt that could be a thing, since what we heard about purification cutscenes sounds a lot like mandatory core mechanics), it could be a result of any number of dialogue bad choices or it could be rooted in any other random corruption event.
But my point is: if she's established as a potential traitor in-game, whatever the mechanics of that could be, Shachiku should've been a lot more wary of her acting weird and upset that day, and he should've immediately thought about this potential outcome instead of just thinking about the reasons for the weird behaviour.

Him still being too fixated on existing game events and being unprepared for new "real game world" interactions is why it was fine before and why it's so stupid now that this has been confirmed as an existing game event, something that he should never miss in a million years, the way it's been established so far.

I suppose one reason is that he doesn't really do 100% runs anymore - correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure it was established pre-isekai Shachiku usually does Any% strats, which is what we've majorly seen thus far.

We also need to remember Shachiku is witnessing a bunch of shit that's never happened in his playthroughs, cause the "game" is now real, essentially. Ada's brother, some of the inner specifics regarding that whole Tesset arc, a couple more details I'm likely forgetting because this manga is 3-years old and is running on a (bi?-)monthly publication and I haven't bothered to do a reread... that's not even getting into his goal of figuring out what the heck Rulebreaker even is to him, since thus far only we sort of have a grasp on it as audiences.

It needs to be stated that we, as humans, tend to forget things when we (re)process information, or at the very least put them on "lower" priority. Given the absolute whirlwind of shit The Gang had to face right before Brahms showed up, as well as the onslaught of information gathering that happened right before this sudden detour, I think it's very possible Shachiku straight up didn't even begin to think about any of that, especially since thus far the route, to him, is still on track despite new roadblocks cropping up.

Now, does it absolve the writing's quality here? Not really. I think a few lines about him finding Brahms sudden retreat and Kiira's blood being practically everyone should've had him ringing some alarm bells as something to prep for, or maybe a "shit, I was so focused on other things I didn't connect the dots sooner" card could work considering what I said earlier, but either way, what's done is done, and (hopefully) the rest of this arc can help pick it back up. And, ya know, at least it's nice to read someone's critiques on this development that wasn't just letting the inherent bias about a trope clouding everything within the plot.

Yeah, genuinely a few lines like that here and there could improve it a bunch. But as it is currently, with Shachiku needing to hear a literal quote from the side quest, as if Kiira getting hostile out of nowhere isn't indication enough, it all just makes him look really slow in the head and imperceptive.
Not noticing the vampire blood set up could be excused with the previously established biases in his thinking, but, when it comes to shit that he really should've been expecting, being ignorant until the last moment, not giving any excuses for it and needing to have it ELI5'd to him even after things are alredy in motion, it's all dumb and out of character.

Some excuses for why he's not thinking about it at all/not in the right direction/not fast enough would be a lot better than nothing, it being as it is.
