I tried asking more about Layzner, if it was a recurrent tactic, or some specific part, but it tried to give a new result in Gundam 8th Team's Gouf Custom, that there was a scene where it did that.
I didn't really doubt it, but the last fight against the 8th happens pretty much outdoors, so unless it was from a different less relevant scene, that was likely not it again. I did remember the 1st scene of 0080, with the Hygoggs infiltrating a base with the Alex, it would make sense for them to attack some random GMs, though them into a door so they get stuck.

But still, unlikely to be Norris case. I asked if there was a specific scene where Norris used some other robot as a doorstep, and in the search of a specific scene, it returned a new result:

The anime is Combat Mecha Xabungle (1982), and the robot is the Xabungle. [1]

Why this matches the Manga perfectly:

• The Color: The titular Xabungle is a blocky, distinctly bright blue robot. [1]

Another anime that I have no watched, so no idea about context or episode, but I checked and the Xabungle is indeed mostly blue. I skimmed through a few episodes, it was telling be episodes 37 and 37, then 49 and 50, found nothing, I give up.

It tried to suggest Macross also, because Max Jenius' Valkyrie is Blue and White, but from the little that I remember, Max pretty much never lost his Valkyrie besides in the movie where he got a draw against Miria, so losing it to create a doorstep is just unimaginable. Hell, I remember he even used it to infiltrate the Zentraedi ship to rescue those that had been captured, he had a literal giant robot infiltrate a ship of giants. But even then, he had to escape, not sacrifice as a shim.
