I sort of suspected that Komichi didn't see the kiss the same way the fans hoped she did (or the same way that Erika apparently did). To her, it was just part of playing the role she was chosen to play as well as she could. And now she's willing to play the role a different way if that'll help the people around her.

That doesn't mean that she doesn't have any romantic feelings for Erika - just that, just like before the kiss, romance just isn't a part of her life.

I've long wondered if Hiro has any sort of outline for the timeline he uses or if he just draws/writes whatever he's most in the mood to do at whatever time he's in the mood to do it. We've apparently jumped a fair ways past the festival - far enough that the effects of the kiss have rippled down through the student body and Erika has done a "prince" makeover - but it seems we're not entirely done with the festival itself yet, so I wouldn't be surprised to see the timeline go back again.

Nice to get to know more about Neko. That's one of the things I like best about this series, when Hiro takes the time to really expand on a character.

And the art, as always, was gorgeous - I especially liked Neko reflected in Komichi's eye and the panels of Neko holding onto the corner of her seat cushion while she talked about her grandmother, and the first image of post/makeover Erika. It's those little touches that make this not only beautiful just to look at, but so emotionally powerful.

Every time there is a bit of conflict in this manga people always flock to argue whether or not hiro-sensei is gonna commit or pull the rug, despite them literally kissing. Ik it doesn't help since this gets updated every 1/2 months but they are literally a couple, a very popular one and that's causing them issues rn

I think the guy above you, Arlo, explained it better than I ever could. It doesn't look like Komichi saw the kiss the same way Erika and us, the fans, saw it. She is taking It more like a role she is playing the way she sees is best to those around her. So much that she is willing to "break up" with Erika If that means it will help the school. As Arlo said, she might truly have romantic feelings for Erika, but at the same time, looks like she doesn't really understand romance or it is not part of her mindset for now. It seems like she is playing a character and I'm afraid this might end up deeply hurting Erika since, as we saw from her inner thoughts, what she feels for Komichi is genuine and not just some character she is playing. We really need to see some inner monologues from Komichi about how she really views her relationship with Erika.

No, it very much should NOT have.

I know this is hard for yuri fans to grasp, but yuri isn't the only important thing in any manga ever.

This manga has always been about godly art, subtly complex and vivid emotional content, character analysis and development, and slices of life ranging all the way from ridiculously fluffy to terrifyingly dramatic. The relationship between Komichi and Erika might've been the only thing that ever mattered to yuri fans, but it was never even close to the only thing the manga's about.

There are so many more stories left to tell.
