I think I get it now though, you weren't enough to keep them around were you? You have to forgive yourself because you never will be.
Your friends will drift away, your family members will die, your lover will leave you and society will change regardless of what you do. None of this is selfish, yet it's entirely selfish to demand that life stay stagnant for you to live in that moment of bliss where they are all with you.
"People care about you." If they truly care, they'd accept my death, mourne me and move on. They wouldn't try to keep me alive like some dancing monkey merely so they don't have to feel sad. Embrace death, for it is reality. Acceptance is the only true path, everything else is just a lie you tell yourself to avoid it.
