Yajin, you seem to forget that you're in a fantasy world where levels are a discrete phenomenon.

Remember how much of a hard time you had subduing a backwater yokel with neither an impressive physique nor any martial technique to speak of? And even then you had to poison him to win? All because he was a higher level.

Now, I'm not saying this guy is a higher level, but I am saying Yajin should be extra skeptical of everyone in any position of power. If the chief fisherman was a struggle, a gang capo is definitely going to be more trouble than he looks.

Oddly rational take for an isekai manga: if you have RPG stats bolstering your metabolism and padding your endurance, giving you the strength to easily haul around your 150 kilo bulk, fortifying your blubber against blows, and so on, being a high-level fatty boombalatty could be a decent build.

Man, he did NOT think that through at all. He jammed a knife into the fat guy's artery, and it didn't do a thing. He got knocked back by bumping into the fat belly. What in the world did he expect when trying to kick a throat that's as thick as an elephant's leg?

Our boy repeatedly makes really stupid moves. Yet, it's always fun to see how he survives and screws up the next time.

Instead of attempting a throat kick, I first thought he was trying to jump off of the guy and use the massive amount of momentum to gain speed and distance to get away quickly. Especially since his first escape attempt failed and Yajin commented on how quick the big guy was.
But the very next panel disproved my idea, which is a shame. That would have been a very smart move.

That's the thing, the Kingpin isn't obese, he only has 10% body fat. He's pure dense muscle underneath that, and even Spider-Man was surprised to find that out after all of the fat jokes he kept making.

I think the idea is that he was trying to hit the chin and knock Hugo out cold, but Hugo's real jaw was hidden by the folds of fat, so no force was actually transferred to his skull.

Since he grabbed Yajin at the moment of contact, I don't think that was possible. I know there is weird time dilation in manga panels, but it's not like Yajin was suspended in mid air and had time to jump a second time.

To get out of that situation, he needed to dodge the attack somehow, but there weren't a lot of options too. The most he could have done that I see would have been to propel himself backwards or upwards instead of moving inwards for the kick and hope to avoid most of the impact. It's not clear that would have worked either, though.

This guy is kind of Yajin's anti-build. Something like a spear would be more effective, that or just overpowering him with brute strength Yajin doesn't have. Otherwise poisoning his food is going to be a lot more reliable.

yeah I seriously thought his kick would be used to give him some distance as pretty much getting that tackle would have knocked him to another world.

2nd to last page Yujin does a breakfall a real technique to fall and reduce damage. Palms slap the ground and keep chin tucked to not smash the back of your head in. Still hurts though but at least his brain is a normal amount of pieces

I thought the same, it looked like he was going to vault off him and it made sense since he already decided to run. Then he did a high kick, the riskiest move possible against someone fast enough to catch up to him despite the weight difference. This was suicidal even if he hadn't tanked it.

Tank's weaknesses are ranged attacks, specifically ones that either damage its optics or posion/burn it while you stay out of its reach. I doubt that guy had a reverse scale or something you can hit.
A napalm to face would have made things easier with his eyes being melted and stuff.
