Restaurants in Kyoto are probably the most well-known examples of that. They've been in business for over 400 years with that kind of attitude, so their passive-aggressive response would be to give you bowl of ochazuke as a subtle "GET THE FUCK OUT, TRASH".

And though he could have phrased it much better, it does make sense in a Japanese cultural context, to kick out anyone who doesn't have an Adventurer's License.
This is Japan, a nation where carrying a kitchen knife outside if it's out of its packaging or you're not a professional chef/cook is illegal. Only selling weapons and armor to licensed professionals does make sense.
Not to defend the clerk's attitude, but his refusal of service to someone not licensed does make some sense.

Really, that's Reito's fault for not considering that he's asking for something that normal, non-licensed people aren't supposed to be able to buy.
..............
Sir and or Madam.
Please stop mixing reality with a fictional world and society. Sure there might be some similarities, but the presence of dungeons and fantasy monster that can and will overflow said dungeons would likely mean most laws around personal weapons would be relaxed for adventurers and suitably trained and or licensed civilians.

Sure there are definitely laws restricting the use of any weapon or abilities outside of dungeons, except under extreme circumstances, but the scattershot nature of where dungeons form, and the necessity for adventurers to travel to those locations, there is no way that the current Japanese laws in regards to weapons and how and how can carry them would be present in this fictional setting.

99% the owner of the shop knows him personally.
I'm 100% sure we've already met the owner. However just like MC's ex, the employees of these stores have no clue who he is, or the fact he is, or was, the number one strongest adventurer in Japan. So without his identification card, he is just John Smith off the street.

Think this is ment to reflect high end stores IRL that do judge customers based on clothing and even yearly income.
In "regular" high end shops they are doing this because - I can't afford this? Watch this shopping spree because hurt pride

I love this story, but it's really stretching things for the initial incident. As it's set up Kaori has to be completely convinced that all adventurers are bottom-feeders and therefore her boyfriend is a lazy bum who barely does enough to put a leaky roof over his head, that she's "done him a favor" by cheating and dumping him as a wake-up so he'll get a real job... which requires her to be completely unaware that the boy she'd grown up with and supported for so long was extremely close with the owner of a fancy fashion chain WHERE SHE WORKS, that the restaurants he takes her to never serve anything worth less than around $600, that he lives in the fanciest condo in the city if not the country, and that his own doting stepsister is one of the biggest, most famous models out there? At this point it's not even enough that she be absurdly, pathetically oblivious, but everyone else has to have kept her at arm's length. If Maria had ever spoken to her before, or if Reito had ever mentioned his sister's name, or if anyone had done absolutely anything to bring about a momentary intersection between half the people he's best friends with and her, she would have realized in an instant that her "bottom-feeder" boyfriend was actually richer than Musk and close personal friends with just about every rich and powerful person in the country.

I love stories where oblivious people realize that someone they looked down on and dismissed was actually influential and successful, but this is a bit much even for a story like that. I just hope that when she DOES find out it's a sufficiently heavy impact when she finds out.

He lost his adventurer's identification card which had all his contact information in it. So as he never bothered with phones while he was an active adventurer, he has no method by which to tell said boss their staff lacks training.
He met up with the majority of the party as we’ve seen, has contact information as well as a phone and can easily tell the boss.

It's pure prejudice based on social status. In some cases they deliberately exclude even the newly wealthy because their inclusion would dilute the prestige of their existing clientele. You see similar social dynamics in how nobility is protrayed in fantasy fiction.

I mean sure his friends did kind of mock him for being so careless, and likely did load a phone with their contact information. But the question now is did he remember to bring it with him and even if he did, would he remember that there is a phone in his inventory?

Fundamental misunderstanding of people who’re wheelchair bound. You can’t just replace their wheelchair like that on a whim (he claims that they rented the exact same model). If she’s been wheelchair bound long term then she most definitely would have had a custom wheelchair tailored to her needs that wouldn’t be a standard off-the-shelf model. Those cheap transport wheelchairs are not built for everyday mobility, they’re not comfortable, as manoeuvrable, or light as a custom made wheelchair.

Yes and yes. He literally calls Karen right after he connects with wheelchair girl in order to announce she has a “Junior Disciple”, so the thought of him making the call not so much for himself but for the sake of him AND his new disciple seems in-character. He also just made a call to the leader of “Golden Cumulus” in order to convince wheelchair girl’s guardian to trust him, so thinking that he would let such terribly ableist (literally ability-based discrimination in this case) treatment just fly is beyond strange.

Derp....

Yeah missed that.

So the only thing I would think that would influence his decision to leave is to not give toxic dud his business, and also prevent any chance of malicious compliance, or sabotage. The gear isn't immediately important so he can just goto a store with staff who knows him and maybe drop a few complaints about the branch store.
