It took all summer, but we finally did it. We are technically "current."

Volume 16 just dropped last week with chapters 61-64. In theory, I could get those chapters out once a week over the next 4 weeks, but then we'd have 3 months of nothing while we wait for Volume 17 to drop sometime in January. Instead, unless there is overwhelming preference otherwise, my intent is to do monthly releases and get back into doing the sound effects again with the spare time.

This means we will perpetually be exactly 4 months behind current V-jump releases. But, as you can see in the final page of this chapter, the V-jump pages are far from ideal to work with and do not get the extra special pages that come with a volume's digital release, so I'd rather not upload the V-Jump scanned pages.

Also, I have a bunch of doujinshi and other Dai related things I'll finally get to start translating, so be sure to check the "related" tab for this series from time to time!

In any case, this chapter brings us to our conclusion of the Beruk arc... really surprising to see that Bearche actually had the highest body count!

Also T_T Roka, it reminds me how at the end of the demon king's defeat the narrator told us they would all never meet again...

And, as you can tell by the volume cover, next chapter we finally get to meet little Maam, so look forward to it (and if there is a demand, I can do a quick volume summary for what happens next in spoiler text for those who absolutely must know what's up to current)!

RIP to a real one. And another real one.

Man, maybe it's just me, but I'll never understand how these super powered beings are always ran away by the power of politics and always let themselves pushed around and bullied by random normal people and somehow they always never have anyone on their side nor any sort of support system or gain any sort of political power themselves and no one tries to court them or bring them to their side despite all their deeds, merit and, you know, being super powered beings who could raze the entire place meaning doing any of this crap to them is something fucking retarded no one with more than two braincells should be doing to begin with. But then they do, and then become magically super keikakumasters3000 while doing that and then lose all their braincells when it's time for them to get ousted later on.
Alas, the power of highschool-tier bullying always somehow reigns supreme. I guess that was the real Yuusha™ all along.

Monthly is fine to me. Go with 1 since it seems like the most comfortable for you.

I really wanna know what happens next and is up to the current volume

Chapter 61:
Avan is super sad about Roka dying. Leira explains what killed him. Avan needs some time by himself, and then encounters Maam in the woods.

Avan sheds tears at Roka's grave. Leira explains that Roka was weakened and soon-to-die because of Kigiro's curse. Then there was a strange fire that could not be extinguished in Nayle Village and while evacuating together they saw a girl in a building and Roka leapt into action to save her, but that used the last of his strength and he died soon after.

Avan needs a bit of time to himself, so he goes to a cliffside and cries manly tears thinking of both Hyunckel and Roka while looking up to the heavens thinking to himself that the gods have given him a trial far too hard to handle.

As it gets dark he notices something strange about the fire pattern that burned the forest. His thoughts are interrupted by a raging lion monster that's rampaging because it is injured, afraid to hurt it further and realizing it's not intentionally hostile, he's stumped what to do when little Maam leaps into action with Leira's staff, bonking it on the head and knocking it out. She excitedly greets Avan, whom she knows about because of her father's stories.

Chapter 62:
Maam and Avan chat a bit, Leira shows up and is irritated Maam is playing forest ranger and getting in danger. Maam convinces Avan to train her.

Maam and Avan patch up the lion monster who wakes up and leaves peacefully. Leira shows up and is very displeased that Maam keeps taking her old weapon to go play forest ranger. Avan is surprised, he thought Maam had permission. Maam is sassy and cute and also insanely strong. They go home to have dinner together and Avan says that Maam reminds him of the ninja woman and Leira is like "SHHHH!!!" because she's hiding that from Maam so that she can properly parent/punish Maam to stop her from going out with her old weapon.

After dinner Avan and Maam have a heart to heart. Maam wants to be trained, but Avan is still very tender about Hyunckel and doesn't want any more disciples. Maam explains that her dad, Roka, used to tell her stories about how awesome Avan was and Avan realizes that Roka is still alive through his daughter and agrees to train her (but only after getting Leira's permission). Leira agrees, noting Roka would have been very happy for Avan to train her. But first, everyone needs to eat a hearty breakfast! Because Avan is still adamant that nutrition is essential. He then leaves for a while because he needs to get a good weapon for Maam.

Chapter 63:
Avan goes to the Kaglimmer cave, leaving Maam to do some training on her own. He returns some time later, gives Maam the gun, and a new foe arrives.

Avan leaves Nayle. Before leaving he gives Maam homework on what to do to train while he's away. He goes home and gets Dorifan to start constructing the magic bullet gun. Avan makes a quick stop in Papnica, that we don't get to see, except in-so-far as Princess Flora finds out he was there, she wasn't told, and she's really upset because Avan STILL hasn't visited her and keeps sending letters!! Avan went to Papnica to use the library to get information about the Cave of Wondrs (I don't know what it's called yet), the one where they learn Kaglimmer in the OG series.

Avan returns to Nayle after a long enough time that he's grown a grief beard. I do not like the look of the beard. He does shave it after a few pages. Maam is happy to see him and explains his homework got too easy so she TRIPLED her training all by herself. Avan gives Maam an insignia of Avan and a gun (yay children and firearms). Maam didn't want a gun, she's upset about having a weapon of destruction.

Meanwhile deep in the woods shit gets real. Brokena and Avan both suspected something was going afoul in the woods, and it had to do with the fire. Chapter ends with a super giant fire elemental monster looming menacingly over the woods.

Chapter 64: I haven't translated it yet so this is more or less based on the images and what little japanese I know.
The group fights the new foe. Maam accepts the gun and uses it to help kill the foe.

Chapter 64:
Avan explains to Maam the purpose of the gun and how it stores magic in the bullets and how it gives her access to the offensive magic she can't use on her own.

Then the fire elemental monster makes itself known. Avan runs off to fight. Maam is also resolved to fight. We learn the origin of the fire monster and the weird fire patterns from the big fire that Killed Roka. Turns out back in like Chapter 3 when Kigiro threatened Avan saying "if you don't come alone I'll burn everything to the ground" wasn't just an empty threat - he had a massive fire spirit in the ground hiding, waiting, and when Roka returned covered in Kigiro's aura and curse, it activated this fire monster.

They fight the monster. Maam is featured because the monster is so big and so hot they can't get close enough to cast the spells on it up close, so Leira charges the bullet and Maam fires it and also Brokena is helping out for some reason or another (though Maam doesn't know he's there). Fire monster is defeated, everyone is very proud.

Chapter 65: I've not yet translated it but based on what I can see in the photos and what little Japanese I can sight read...
Avan travels the world. He visits Chocoma in new Gyuta who is working on something big. We're introduced to a new teenage boy character named Touma

Avan leaves Nayle and begins traveling the world. He visits Matoriv. Matoriv is irritated that Avan is fucking up his romance with Flora because he, himself, fucked up his relationship with Kanon. Avan visits the King of Papnica and has some words with him. We see a single page with Leona on it.

Avan visits New-Gyuta where we see Chocoma lookling like she's 16. The math isn't mathing for me there, though. She was like 5 when they first met before Avan did the spell of frozen time. It's been 5 but no more than 6 years since then, so she should not be buxom and looking 16, but she is.

Chocoma is working on some sort of mechanical technological device. She's trying to open a doorway to the sealed away Gyuta AND ALSO visit the celestials, who live in the clould-realm, and were drawn as looking elf-like.

Then we shift to some other kingdom, not sure which, where skeleton monsters are attacking the people. Some dude, likely the lord of the town, is like "bring me my son!" And his son, Touma, arrives. Touma looks around Chocoma's age. The general suspicion on JP forums is that Touma might be the "fake hero" from the OG series. My suspicion is that the skeletons indicate we're possibly entering into a "general of the undead legion" Hyunckel being a villain...

LOOOONNN BEEEERRKKKK

Also, RIP Roka, we will miss you lad! :fml:

Man, Avan really lost it all, will have to wonder how he recovers. By the looks of it, it's next volume.
And as for the choice you asked, Tahlynne, go with 1 as well .It was a good time for weekly releases, but at least monthly ones will be coming. Beats erratic releases, or worse, hiatuses (looking at you, Hunter x Hunter)
