I'll be honest though, I'm no Oreki Houtarou, because every now and again I just can't help but get that feeling of "missing something" when it comes to theory-crafting. You can stick a theory on anything, it's if the given evidence supports your theory or not that's the important part, but even then you can still get it wrong.Honestly, you come up with some great analyses, man—you’ve got a real talent for being a detective, haha.
Theory-crafting and detective work is, at least as far as coming to a conclusion is concerned, not that much different from one another.
Searching every possible details for clues, sorting out the possibilities each clue gives, and deducing until you reach a conclusion is pretty much the standard approach.
"Eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Or something like that, I can't remember the exact quote.
As far as this manga is concerned, I stepped away from choosing a side when I realized the "slut or not" mystery was going to be an ongoing thing since around chapter 3, and focused more on the bigger picture, and that's how I ended up with the "Dependency Theory"... which probably needs some updating because of the new information we got in chapter 26.
Nah, those are fine if you realize that everything was meant to appear one thing or another at the same time.I ain't going to lie it feels more and more that the earlier chapters got soft retconned from the manga. And probably won't be talked about again.
The entirety of chapter 4 sounds both like a delusion from naoto and luna actually bringing another guy in the picture.
And then the other chapters swept this under the rug and we never hear about it again
Schrödinger's Cat is essentially that. You're given a premise (Is Luna a slut or not?) -> stuff gets put inside a box that could make the subject end up being A or B (clues that lean to one side at first glance) -> don't get shown what's inside the box (author using time-skips, intentionally not showing the readers what's actually happening, intentionally making lines/conversations hidden or ambiguous, etc.) -> you're left in a limbo not knowing if the subject is now A or B (readers debate if Luna is a slut or not) -> only get to the truth when the box gets opened and the result is observed (author finally reveals what happened in that week's "box"). Rinse and repeat.
That's debatable. But her lust for him as he became an adult man, that I can give you, because that one is supported by what's already been revealed so far.Like Suga wanted to show to us by showing naoto's past that luna have relationship over his back. Just to act like she loves him like a man.
Her kissing a guy and not her younger relative? That's normal, expected even, hurray for No Alabama. The "festival"? Japan has plenty of festivals that take place during Summer, when she went to the countryside, the usual suspect is the Obon Festival. The young folks are expected to help out to keep the tradition alive. The whole thing about kissing a guy on her past and going to "prepare a festival" with two guys. Sounds like a secret relationship she had with boys her age.
The things she hid from Naoto were the ones that she thinks will make Naoto hate and leave her if he finds out. She also "does not want to hide things from Nao-kun", which was something like an reactionary decision that she made. (Chapter 4~4.5).The whole thing with the earlier chapters never get a concrete explanation and is nowhere near having one
It's just make luna sound like manipulative and a hypocrite.
Which if i'm gonna be honest she is. In chapter 4 she says she won't "hide things" from naoto
Then she goes to a hotel to meet and fuck a guy ( even though she ditched) show us her intention of never being truthful.
She contradicts herself, her actions seems to betray logical thinking, but here you gotta ask the "What?" and "Why?".
What drives her to do both things? What is the common denominator in both? Simple, Her FEAR of Naoto leaving her.
She hides things that she fears would make Naoto hate and leave her, yet at the same time she does not want to hide things from him, because the last time she did that and got caught, he actually sulked and ignored her, to which Luna saw as leading to him leaving her (Chapter 4.5).
The next question to answer now is "Why is she fearful of the possibility of Naoto leaving her?".
While pondering that, I came up with the "Dependency Theory" by using what's already been revealed so far to try and paint a bigger picture just to make sense of her actions. But that's just me, some readers would instead just say that the story is not that deep because it's "just a romcom", which I reckon must be rather insulting to any author, while others would rather just out her as a slut and call it a day.
The REAL retcon from the early chapters though, is the saddest one, really.
What did she do to deserve that, Suga Atsushi?
