Honestly, you come up with some great analyses, man—you’ve got a real talent for being a detective, haha.
I'll be honest though, I'm no Oreki Houtarou, because every now and again I just can't help but get that feeling of "missing something" when it comes to theory-crafting. You can stick a theory on anything, it's if the given evidence supports your theory or not that's the important part, but even then you can still get it wrong.

Theory-crafting and detective work is, at least as far as coming to a conclusion is concerned, not that much different from one another.

Searching every possible details for clues, sorting out the possibilities each clue gives, and deducing until you reach a conclusion is pretty much the standard approach.

"Eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." Or something like that, I can't remember the exact quote.

As far as this manga is concerned, I stepped away from choosing a side when I realized the "slut or not" mystery was going to be an ongoing thing since around chapter 3, and focused more on the bigger picture, and that's how I ended up with the "Dependency Theory"... which probably needs some updating because of the new information we got in chapter 26.
See this post, this post, and this post. For references on the "Dependency Theory", which is the theory that Luna is for some reason dependent on "Nao-kun", and is compelled to be his "Luna-nee" AT ANY AND ALL COSTS, for herself to be "accepted" by Naoto.

I ain't going to lie it feels more and more that the earlier chapters got soft retconned from the manga. And probably won't be talked about again.

The entirety of chapter 4 sounds both like a delusion from naoto and luna actually bringing another guy in the picture.

And then the other chapters swept this under the rug and we never hear about it again
Nah, those are fine if you realize that everything was meant to appear one thing or another at the same time.

Schrödinger's Cat is essentially that. You're given a premise (Is Luna a slut or not?) -> stuff gets put inside a box that could make the subject end up being A or B (clues that lean to one side at first glance) -> don't get shown what's inside the box (author using time-skips, intentionally not showing the readers what's actually happening, intentionally making lines/conversations hidden or ambiguous, etc.) -> you're left in a limbo not knowing if the subject is now A or B (readers debate if Luna is a slut or not) -> only get to the truth when the box gets opened and the result is observed (author finally reveals what happened in that week's "box"). Rinse and repeat.
Like Suga wanted to show to us by showing naoto's past that luna have relationship over his back. Just to act like she loves him like a man.
That's debatable. But her lust for him as he became an adult man, that I can give you, because that one is supported by what's already been revealed so far.
The whole thing about kissing a guy on her past and going to "prepare a festival" with two guys. Sounds like a secret relationship she had with boys her age.
Her kissing a guy and not her younger relative? That's normal, expected even, hurray for No Alabama. The "festival"? Japan has plenty of festivals that take place during Summer, when she went to the countryside, the usual suspect is the Obon Festival. The young folks are expected to help out to keep the tradition alive.
The whole thing with the earlier chapters never get a concrete explanation and is nowhere near having one
It's just make luna sound like manipulative and a hypocrite.

Which if i'm gonna be honest she is. In chapter 4 she says she won't "hide things" from naoto
Then she goes to a hotel to meet and fuck a guy ( even though she ditched) show us her intention of never being truthful.
The things she hid from Naoto were the ones that she thinks will make Naoto hate and leave her if he finds out. She also "does not want to hide things from Nao-kun", which was something like an reactionary decision that she made. (Chapter 4~4.5).

She contradicts herself, her actions seems to betray logical thinking, but here you gotta ask the "What?" and "Why?".

What drives her to do both things? What is the common denominator in both? Simple, Her FEAR of Naoto leaving her.

She hides things that she fears would make Naoto hate and leave her, yet at the same time she does not want to hide things from him, because the last time she did that and got caught, he actually sulked and ignored her, to which Luna saw as leading to him leaving her (Chapter 4.5).

The next question to answer now is "Why is she fearful of the possibility of Naoto leaving her?".

While pondering that, I came up with the "Dependency Theory" by using what's already been revealed so far to try and paint a bigger picture just to make sense of her actions. But that's just me, some readers would instead just say that the story is not that deep because it's "just a romcom", which I reckon must be rather insulting to any author, while others would rather just out her as a slut and call it a day.

The REAL retcon from the early chapters though, is the saddest one, really.

What did she do to deserve that, Suga Atsushi? :fml:

The thing is, Naoto has pretty much shown so far that he's willing to believe in Luna, if anything, even if it's understandable, continuing to hide the truth from him might be the factor that drives him away (even if the chances are low.)

Good point on almost everything. I'd just like to point out about the festival and the kissing guy thing. It's not just about the fact she ain't sweet home alabama on the protagonist.

Is the fact that she goes over the protagonist back, hide from him, and goes as far as breaking a promise that she made herself (even though it's childish, it is very important for child naoto). Also the festival, it's not important for her to participate in a festival as you say. Happens everywhere and everyday in japan.

But why frame as a grown up thing to do?

Why does the author specifically mention that scene?

Did something happened in that festival?

Why she goes with two random guys and then says as she's leaving " i'll tell you when you get older" ? If it is just a simple festival why keep a secret from the kids?

Sort of thing is suspicious and look out of place. Her whole past does.

Everytime we see a glimple of luna's past she's either being suspicious or being badmouthed by a person who knew her ( the exception of course being her moments with kid naoto).

For example she could've have left with group of boys and girls or a group of girls if she was going to help in the festival with her classmate.

I know you hammered the point of the schrodinger's slut.
But i'm still curious what make her look so suspicious, it makes me want to create theories about the earlier chapters.

So with all the evidence we have right now, what do you actually think?
Short answer: We still don't have enough evidence to make the irrefutable claim that Luna is a slut, or not.

Long answer: At the very least we need to know why she stopped coming to the countryside 10 years ago (the most important secret btw), why Naoto's mother didn't tell the him the reason when he asked as a kid, what did she do to "Nao-kun" as "Luna" that the young Nao-kun was unable to accept, how far did she go with her supposed relations with guys other than Naoto, what is the truth behind the rumours, did she let guys kiss but not smash, did she try the same thing during her time at her old part-time job, why suddenly 10 years later Naoto's mother allowed him to live together with the very same female relative (who lives alone btw) that he got separated from 10 years ago, was that actually a condom wrapper and if so how was it used, what really happened behind the door, who was she speaking to at the kitchen, did she ditch other guys the same way like she ditched the "hotel guy".

There's plenty of questions (plot holes) still need answers, and I think there will be more questions to be added to the list in the near future.

Does her aiming for some form of normalcy not cross your mind? Remember during this time her and Naoto's dynamic is closer to ACTUAL SIBLINGS. She didn't start "not wanting to hide anything" until AFTER Naoto saw her kissing another guy, sulk, and ignore her enough that Luna cried herself to sleep thinking that Naoto is going to leave her side.

Why she goes with two random guys and then says as she's leaving " i'll tell you when you get older" ? If it is just a simple festival why keep a secret from the kids?
She said when he gets taller than her, read chapter 1 again. I'll repeat, young folks participating in their community festivals are encouraged, sometimes mandatory, to keep the tradition alive and well for the next generation. Small kids, like Naoto at the time, tend to get off the hook with any actual work (managerial or manual) that needed to be done.

Sort of thing is suspicious and look out of place. Her whole past does.

Kinda the point of the manga, just a reminder.

What classmates? She visits the countryside, she did not reside there let alone go to school there.

Theory-craft along bro, maybe you'll find something that others, myself included, might've failed to spot.

Reading all the posts I come to the conclusion that either this will either be a manga for the ages or will end up as a steaming pile of manga.

At this point I have to admit that all we've seen so far might have a real explanation and it will all make sense or it will make no sense at all.

Let's see. Like I said, and I meant it, if the mangaka pulls this off, I'll buy all the tanks!

If she doesn't exactly live in the village why is she supposed to help?

and still weird though. Aside from hiba(who is also a very weird character btw) we don't see her hanging with no other girls in the countryside. Only guys and one of those scenes is her kissing a guy. So she visits naoto from time to time but keep knowing guys? She doesn't study with them and doesn't have much connection either.

so why does she keep getting involved with teenagers she doesn't exactly know that much?

The fact she seeks some normalcy as you said could be A-OK if she lived there. Gets to know the guy, fall in love.

But then she just forgets about him because naoto got sulky?

Seems to me she doesn't have that much of interest in keeping relationships only hookups.

But that is just a theory A MANGA THEORY.
Edit: also i forgot to mention but the boys look noticeably older than her. While she looks 13 - 14 they look to be 16-17 which is weird again. She's not only hanging with boys that are not her classmate or known friends but also hanging out with older boys

Bro, is all the evidence we've gotten so far still not enough for you to reach a conclusion, or do you really think it's still that weak? Like, her actual intention behind going to the hotel in the first place, even if nothing actually happened.

We can't reach a definitive conclusion about a few details, not just because the box hasn't been opened fully yet but for the most part, we haven't seen Luna's thoughts and when we do get Luna's thoughts, it's vague about what she actually intends to do, most likely on purpose on Suga's part to keep it open.

The truth is he wants to keep open. He wants to know if he should make her a slut or not. And the previous chapter gave him the answer. Idk man

Mmm, I have a bit more faith what Suga intends to do, in that, i don't think he wants to make her a slut in the end, he's just trying to keep things open and tease the readers until the very end, but of course the problem with this is that lead to the hotel situation, so there's a decent chance any bait we get in the future will be heavily toned down.

I agree with this, but I'm really wondering how the author is gonna pull off an excuse that actually looks good. The earlier evidence was, well... pretty questionable, to say the least. And honestly, even though the recent chapter revealed they ended up not doing anything at the hotel, doesn't her intent alone say it all? I mean, she literally went there and was sitting in the room waiting for the guy.

For sure. But i still think before the ending luna will somehow fuck it her relationship with naoto. Before they make up

Yeah. And honestly the previous actions even if she was really fucking other guys is easily forgivable. But after the deepening her relationship with naoto and saying she doesn't want to hide things. She goes to a hotel and fucks another guy.

Even naoto was like "why not me? I'm right here".

Also that scene in the latest chapter was so lame. They jerk eachother off and that's it?

The whole meetup another guy just to act as a virgin. And masturbating eachother and sleep? Fucking lame dude.

But that's just it, we still can't say for sure what her "intent" was because of her own thoughts, her supposed goal was to erase her sexual desire, she didn't outright say she was there for sex and that was purposeful by Suga.

For sure. But i still think before the ending luna will somehow fuck it her relationship with naoto. Before they make up

That's one possible outcome but I'm also pretty Suga is treading on thin ice for these next few chapters, it might be that all of Luna's secrets come out, Naoto accepts the situation and the series just ends, the only way Luna could possibly fuck up her relationship with Naoto is doing something to actively hurt him, just disregard the hotel situation.

What I mean is, Luna would have to actively choose someone over Naoto and then have sex with them, but so far, we've seen that Naoto is Luna's number one, not to mention everything Shinya mentioned about Luna being dependant on Naoto, I can't see them having a serious falling out, for it to happen Luna would have to go against her own character and Naoto would need to stop believing in her when so far his faith hasn't really wavered.

But that's just it, we still can't say for sure what her "intent" was because of her own thoughts, her supposed goal was to erase her sexual desire, she didn't outright say she was there for sex and that was purposeful by Suga.

To be honest his faith has been tested for the last 10 years. Many of us here would not have succeeded. Nothing sour a relationship more than being promiscuous with other people.

Even if it's only her fame of being a slut. She stills never defend herself even naoto believe she is a slut.

  • She's a relative to someone who does live there. It makes even more sense for her to help out even if she does not live there if the festival in question happens to be Obon.
  • There's no clear evidence for this detail so we can only assume on this part. For that matter, we don't even know if the guys (other than that one guy who she kissed) are other relatives to begin with.
  • Possibly social masking to save face. Omote/Ura and all that jazz. There are chapters that hints at Luna growing up neglected by her parents. Loneliness is a real issue in Japan, and this could explain why she regards being with her "younger brother", the young Nao-kun, was the happiest time of her life. Hiba happened to be there along for the ride, outcasts attracting outcasts like Stand Users attracting other Stand Users, I guess.
  • She just chose Nao-kun over that other guy, like how she chose Naoto over that other person on the phone, what else can I say? We got nothing more concrete to work with on that matter at the moment, unless "Dependency Theory" was right on the mark.
  • For some reason she prioritizes Nao-kun above everything else, even her own personal relationships, you might want to look into that angle as to why.
  • Those two guys could be older relatives. They're waiting for her while inside the house.

Bro, is all the evidence we've gotten so far still not enough for you to reach a conclusion, or do you really think it's still that weak? Like, her actual intention behind going to the hotel in the first place, even if nothing actually happened.
You yourself was convinced that she already got railed.
Whether they actually did it or not hasn't been explicitly shown yet, but when she came back, she was completely exhausted, smelled like alcohol, and could barely stand on her own feet. Honestly, at this rate, it’s not a stretch to conclude that she already got railed
Only to be proven wrong when it was revealed via the text messages that she left immediately after the guy arrived.

Simply put, the author deliberately does not give the readers enough evidence to reach a conclusion that he couldn't Joseph-Joestar-plot-armor his way out of.

As far as the hotel encounter is concerned:
End goal: Stay as "Nao-kun"'s "Luna-nee"
Motive: Become "Luna-nee" again
Intent: ERASE sexual desire, because STUPID SEXY FLANDERS NAO-KUN
Method: Involves another person
Progress: Cancelled for an unspecified reason <- We don't know WHY Luna cancelled/ran away, or for that matter, what was even running on her mind AFTER she opened the door. The possible reason as for why she cancelled has more weight than her simply going for a ONT for shits and giggles, and should be the question that people are asking.

Just a reminder. One of her secrets is that she used the app for "relieve" ( take that as you want). So it is confirmed she used the app more than once.

Then what kind of person do you think she is, when they emotionally crave each other, yet physically she relies on some random guy picked from a dating app to get off and kill her horniness? Just looking at that simple intent of wanting to take care of her urges with someone else—do you honestly still believe she isn't promiscuous? Even if she did sleep with the guy while only thinking about Naoto, would you still call her innocent?

So in the end, her intent was wanting to go back to being 'Luna-nee,' and her solution to that was going to sleep with some random stranger? That's so fucking weird, bro.
