I feel like in every chapter there is always at least one page that makes me wonder if the characters have lazy eyes, are permanently cross-eyed, or are blind and are not actually looking at anything, thus explaining why they have thousand-yard stares while talking to a person right next to them.

10 million yen doesn't sound that much if you do the math. Sure it passed 5 hours on the outside but it was a whole month on the inside. Also you are not working 8 hours a day you are practically working 24 hours a day and on weekends also.
10 million yen is 60 000 euro, the average monthly in japan is 2350 for a 40 hour work week. If i add the rest of the hours at 1.5 pay for overtime hours and the weekend at 2x rate you would be getting 15 000 euro for a regular job if you did the same overtime, and you are also not risking your life.
