“Did something happen?” the artist guy had the nerve to ask that when he’s doing backflips of joy inside?

Bro was right to get out of there for a bit. Cohabitating with her is just too intense when your feelings are this raw. He’s really beating himself up but aside from that one insensitive comment what did he do wrong?

He’d been cheated on savagely and she knew that but still did nothing to give him any reassurance. His state of mind was predictable and preventable… still not a good look though.

Honestly it sucks but those two are not good for each other. I think maybe it just looked good at first by comparison to him getting back with his cheating ex?
Her being immature and not understanding this is believable. College age people like to think they're adults because they're no longer minors, but the brain doesn't stop developing until the mid to late 20s. Also there could be some emotional immaturity at play here, and we know she was raised without a mother for at least half of her life.

I think he was just being considerate as to not wake them up because he was leaving in the middle of the night. He actually still called to tell them, and he made sure it was on a time everyone started waking up.
Yea I'm assumming its some sort of family emergency or something close

That is a very fair point especially since it's a decision made in a very short period of time. I was thinking maybe he could've sent a note message or something. But well, there's this ordering ticket, packing stuffs, taxi and so on which took some time. All happened after 1.30 in the morning

Honestly, this chapter was all over the place.

First off, Lili made the right call breaking up with Hiromi. I’ve been saying this for the last 10 chapters — ever since he broke up with Chika. The moment he got out of that relationship, he needed to take a step back, reassess the situation, and focus on personal growth before jumping into something new. But we never got that. Instead, he rushed into a relationship with Lili and let his emotions take over.

To be fair, though, any guy in his situation would’ve felt some type of way. If your girl doesn’t come home one night, isn’t answering her phone, and just so happens to be with the guy you’re worried about… of course, most dudes would’ve flipped out. Hiromi didn’t. Yeah, he let his emotions get the best of him, but he tried to keep it together — and rightfully so. He had every reason to be upset. Trust me, it could’ve gone left real quick, but he chose the high road. That showed growth.

Where Hiromi went wrong was in what he said — he knows it, and Lili knows it. But my issue is this: Hiromi had already told Lili he had a problem with her “friendship” with Hodoka. She was the one who reassured him there was nothing to worry about. Yet, when she stayed at this man's house all night without calling, how was he supposed to feel? When he went to the art exhibit to support her and heard her friends questioning whether she and Hodoka were in a relationship, how was he supposed to feel? And finally, when he's at home surrounded by his sharemates — and they’re sitting there telling her, “Hey, you and Hodoka would make a great couple. Y’all fit each other so well” — how is he supposed to react? Anyone in that situation would’ve felt some type of way.

Lili came to the logical conclusion that they needed to break up, and I agree. But after this, Hiromi really needs to take a step back, reflect on what happened, and realize he still has some growing to do. The problem is… he’s got a shitty best friend. Instead of encouraging him to process the breakup, this dude wants to let Hiromi blame himself for everything and then throw him on a dating app like that’s going to fix his issues. That was weird.

That said, I’ll give Lili credit — she owned her part. She knows she messed up too. At least they’re both taking accountability, and I respect that. But even with that, they don’t need to be together. If the moment something goes wrong, you feel like you can’t talk it out, and your first instinct is to break up… y’all don’t need to be together.

Especially after she said, “I still can’t see us like that right now.” That should’ve been Hiromi’s cue to let her go for good. I’m glad they broke up. That’s just my honest opinion. I hope they never get back together because it makes no sense. She’s not emotionally ready for that kind of relationship, and he’s not ready to invest himself like that. It’s just not it.

probably there will be some character development before the author tries to make something with her again, like you said, she wasn't ready, so the best move would be to let her grown and give some spotlight to the other girls so they can also get their arc or something with MC, i personally don't really see a clear winner or losers so i feel like things can go in any direction for the girls

These characters have the kind of emotional handling skills of toddlers.
Have you ever met actual adults in your life? :D

You say that as if it's a thing that happens. The only realistic scenario after trauma is calming down over time and introducing some kind of coping mechanism. None of "personal growth" outside of getting real experience in the school of hard knocks is real, it's just fantasies of becoming better through staring at your own navel.

I guess you overlooked the part where I said that since his relationship with Chika ended, I believe Hiromi should take a step back, reassess the situation, and focus on personal growth before jumping into another relationship. Unless you're telling me right now that you support the idea of his best friend encouraging him to jump on a dating app as a coping mechanism after two failed relationships, I can't understand why you skipped over that part. If that’s really your explanation, then quite frankly, it doesn’t make sense. That’s all — I’m not even going to hold you. It’s probably one of the weirdest comments I’ve read so far

Well said, but I think it's not "all over the place" at all. It's perfectly, imperfectly human.

I feel bad for Hiromi. To see and hear all that is really painful. It hasn't been long at though so the breakup shouldn't hurt too long. But I must say, she's very immature and inconsiderate to have allowed this in the first place

Yeah, even without him still being sensitive about cheating because of his ex, no normal partner would be ok with the other party doing what she did. Of course it didn’t help that they were keeping their relationship a secret from the housemates either.

As an aside, I theorize that I think at least one of the housemates knows or strongly suspects that they’re together. Some of these women are quite sharp and savvy about queues that these two probably think they’re hiding well. So I think that it’s possible that some of those comments about her being a good match for the artist guy may have been a test, or even a barb, to see how Lili and Hiromi react.

The problem is… he’s got a shitty best friend. Instead of encouraging him to process the breakup, this dude wants to let Hiromi blame himself for everything and then throw him on a dating app like that’s going to fix his issues. That was weird.
OMG the whole interaction with the friend was infuriating. Hiromi was incorrectly blaming himself for everything and the friend did nothing but pile on without even suggesting that Lili had done things wrong as well. If this was the person who was around Hiromi when he was dumped by his cheating ex it’s no surprise that his self esteem is so bad

That said, I’ll give Lili credit — she owned her part. She knows she messed up too. At least they’re both taking accountability, and I respect that. This is one area where I’ll have to disagree with you a bit. I couldn’t even believe it when she told her friends they were “never dating in the first place”, because that’s simply not true, they were in a committed relationship, and she’s trying to minimize it to reduce her own guilt.
She acknowledged that she messed up, but she did not take accountability. The things she told her friends about what she did wrong should have been said to Hiromi. He deserved and needed to hear that. Hiromi owned up to his mistakes directly and apologized, which is what Lili should have done. Instead, she told (what I believe) is a hurtful lie.

Especially after she said, “I still can’t see us like that right now.” That should’ve been Hiromi’s cue to let her go for good.
This was the lie. It meant that the strong feelings were one-sided on Hiromi’s part and that she doesn’t feel that way about him (at least not anymore). That’s a tough pill to swallow and probably makes him question everything. He thought they were a real couple, but she’s denied it. If this was true she wouldn’t have been crying all night about it in her room. She did have strong feelings for Hiromi but decided to run away instead of doing the work.

I’m glad they broke up. That’s just my honest opinion. I hope they never get back together because it makes no sense. She’s not emotionally ready for that kind of relationship, and he’s not ready to invest himself like that. It’s just not it.
I agree wholeheartedly. These two were not good for each other on many levels. Honestly Hiromi needs to stay single for a while and get his shit together, he’s an emotional mess. Being in that house with Lili is basically poison for him so I think it’s good he’s gone and I hope when he returns to town grows a backbone, admits what happened to everyone, and moves out.

Lili? I honestly don’t care what happens to her now but I hope she at least stays away from that Hodaka guy. If they did get together it would just prove to Hiromi that he was right to worry all along, literally any other guy would be better. Plus Hodaka is really giving off bad vibes to me, like he’d take advantage of her vulnerability to seduce her or even drug her and rape her if she seemed resistant. Yes, those kind of vibes. She’s in the total doghouse in my book but nobody deserves what I think Hodaka is capable of.

He's obviously in his home town because he got a late night call that his parent was ill and he wasn't leaving because of drama. Also, thank god we're temporarily done with Lilly. Easily the weakest member of the crew, good riddance.
