I just find it extremely funny that there are camps on both sides, proving the point that you can't please everyone.

IIRC the Empress, or at least her head, needs to stay alive or else Kanejou will get revived. It's an extremely important job, and fortified place like a castle or a hidden place would do a good job of storing her head.

Buuut we're all expecting some shit to happen and the Empress dies before they're ready, as these stories usually go.
