his constant rejections turn her into more and more of a hot mess of a drunk than should be possible for such an incredibly successful military woman...
Serena's biggest hurdle at this point is that even though they do get along as a commander and a merc, their personal dynamic is already well established as "oh hell, not you again" and that's not an easy thing to overturn.

Especially when she's still chock full of noble pride, unlike, say Chris or any of the (spoiler) characters that he deals with.

Did he already explain the ability that happens when he holds his breath? I recall it being explained, but I can't remember if I read it in just the LN a long time ago or in the manga as well. And I don't remember what the ability was.

does the concept of just telling people "no" not exist in the minds of manga authors? :kek:

There is only a small amount of authors that do that. Their characters are firm in their ways and are vocal about being in a monogamous relationship or not willing to go more than 2 other partners.

Everyone else is like, "it's fantasy ya know? So why not? We will just ignore STDs, hormonal changes, cycles, the fact that women can outlast men in bed and men are generally the ones that get taken out first, etc. etc."

That time slows down for him is well established here (I think it's first mentioned against the robots on the vacation island?). The "why" doesn't start getting addressed until much later in the LN.

He explains he can do it, never the why he can do it. He tries not to use it that often cause he has no idea how it works.

Answer from web novel and light novel.
Hiro later is able to use psionic powers. The hold breath, time seems to slow around him is one of them.

The first time is the elves from the elf planet notice his potential in it but are unable to train him. The second time is when we are introduced to Kugi for the first time. She is the one who later trains Hiro a bit in some of the psionic powers to keep his potential in check. Much later in the web novel, more stuff gets revealed to him when he visit the empire that Kugi came from.

TL tried to match with LN volumes so its easy to do compare and contrast between the two. Author really tried to fix certain problematic sections to make the story go better in the LN version.

Examples:
The visit to the elf planet arc got a bit of a rewrite due to how bad it read in the WN. The volume where Kugi gets introduced is handled differently in the WN, the LN adds another character to show off the difference between what Hiro can do with power armor and what that character can do with psionic powers.

Also just another fyi, the release timing is a bit uh...erratic. Depending on donations and such the TL could release chapters like ever few days or as long as maybe a week or so depending. And then when they're caught up with the current WN chapters, we may end up waiting a month or two or so for new chapters.

Also, there are some changes between the webnovel and the LN but the story is essentially the same. The changes are interesting enough however that makes both an enjoyable read even if the webnovel does spoil what is coming in the LN a bit.

Oh and to expand on the Serena thing a bit since its out there now
At that point Dr Shukio (sp?) is a permanent crew member and she figures out what the problem with Serena is. She tells Hiro that the evil noble (who was planning on defecting to the Federation) injected her with basically the same formulation of nanomachines that pirates use on captives to turn them into sex slaves. The nanomachines make the person get horny every few hours and if they don't have sex (it also radically enhances pleasure) take in sperm, that progressed into excoriating pain, and eventually death. Dr Shukio synthesizes a counter formula but it won't be ready before the nanomachines in Serena kill her (Serena had been sedated at this point) So.....That leaves Hiro with two options, literally take her Vcard to save her life or leave her to die. Of course, Hiro desperately looks for option 3 and Dr Shukio comes up with using a syringe to put some of Hiro's sperm into Serena without having sex, but Hiro quickly realizes that when Serena wakes up she would most likely go absolutely berserk and kill him before killing herself in shame so that is quickly dismissed.

So reluctantly, he chooses to save her life. He carries her to his bedroom, waits for her to wake from being sedated, explains to Serena the situation, and accepts his fate after Serena goes all feral on him lol.

Now, the most hilarious part of all of this comes later on
Later on he finds out during the arc in the Holy Empire that he is a ridiculously powerful psionic, even among "visitors". Long story short, ever since he "arrived" his powers have literally unintentionally been altering the universe around him, bending fate as he wishes even if he doesn't realize it. When he finds this out and digests that the reason all of the strange occurrences of fate that keep happening to him like constantly running into Serena, running into Chris and her situation and not being able to escape, running into Mimi when he did and exactly who she turned out to be, same with Elma, and so on and so on.......were literally ALL HIS FAULT to begin with and were an unconscious extension of what he really wanted, the internal and external mental screaming he goes through when he has noone to blame but himself is absolutely hilarious. The usual Japanese trope of "it's not my concern" gets absolutely blown apart in a most hilarious fashion and he has to accept responsibility for his own (unintentional) actions......lol

Is that it with the enemy gang?
Felt anticlimactic... Unless they really wiped out everyone and there's no one left that would react.

Can you elaborate on how it happened?

Since the beginning, like chapter 5
i absolutely forgot about that since after that they never do anything :S

For some reason I didn't realize how smol the two of them are even though it should be obvious from their race. It didn't do a good job conveying the size of the dwarves until now.

That's great, this kinda dumb stuff is exactly why I enjoy this author's work so much lol

It depends on any given panel but here in the manga the way the artist draws them alternates between "petite adult" (which is fine) and "prepubescent/barely pubescent preteen" (not as fine) but at least they consistently act like adults (idiotic adults sometimes, sure, but adults nonetheless) which softens the blow at least a little imo. (I fucking hate stories where they try to pull the "1000 year old dragon" trope & the character acts like a child in addition to looking like one, that is just wanting to bang a child my dude, stop...) In the LNs the artist consistently depicts them with proportions closer to that of people with actual dwarfism, which isn't really my thing but I still appreciated it because they kept it fairly consistent that nah, these women are definitely adults, you just need to take more than one glance & not get hung up on how short they are. Sucks that the manga depictions might make it kinda uncomfortable for anyone not into lolis when they finally hook up, but at least it won't be for a while; he refuses to touch them until they quit the company and officially join his crew like 2-3 volumes later in the LNs, so we've got multiple long story arcs to go before it happens here.

Loli dwarf sister threesome. Looking forward to it.
Unless the artist makes some big changes to the story's overall progression, I wouldn't recommend holding your breath.

That’s what he wants it to be considered, however it is a thing culturally that any people of the opposite sex on the same ship are in that kind of relationship, sure they’re not officially his crew, but it doesn’t change the fact that they’d be on the same ship as a man for weeks+. That sort of thing would be “inevitable” in their universe.
so no employees without engaging in a physical relationship? is that a narrative rule? mandatory harem route? would have been nice to abstain from that trope for once in a while.

Hiro actually tries to abstain, but the Dwarf Twins are near dead set on making it happen. It also doesn't help him that Mimi and Elma already gave their approval.

His resistance slowly gets eroded till he finally just gives in and accept doing it with them, but as been stated before it takes about 5 volumes in the light novel before he does so.

He basically, just gives in to what is basically a cultural norm for that universe.
