That's a clear path forward for Yuu & Haru--even better, it'd force her mother to acknowlege how far Yuu has come, and how worthy she is of notice from the parent who walked out on her.

Of course, the potential for Mom to simply bar Yuu from auditioning exists. That would depend on whether she's truly petty/vindictive/an otherwise actual antagonist in the story--but no use getting into that when it's just unnecessary to speculate on at this juncture.

Haru being a reliable means of calming Yuu's nerves like this is a great little visual signifier of their current relationship. Comfortable with close contact, it's only a matter of time before things escalate between them. Hopefully it happens when Yuu isn't stressed as well, at least sometimes.

The sister has been thinking of Yuu, then. And with Yuu joining in on the singing now, she's now aware of her progress--and more importantly, that negative reaction to Haru's existence at Yuu's side means future conflict. Not only is Yuu at odds with their mother, perhaps Sister remains attached to Yuu, even in absence?

I could see a plot line wherein Sister tries to break them up, offering to take Haru's place at Yuu's side--maybe declaring that the audition will go better, and Mother will accept Yuu more if the sisters do it together.

And that would compel Haru to step further out of her passive self and fight for what she wants, giving her a chance to show how much she's changed in her time with Yuu.

Will have to see, but interesting developments and options going forward.

Thanks for the TL as always.

If I were a betting man, I’d say Ruriko probably regrets leaving Yuu behind, so she’s avoiding her because she’s afraid of being hated by her own daughter or something along those lines.

Thanks for the chapter!
I both hope that is and isn't the case.

I hope it is, because it would be nice if Ruriko wasn't just a bad mom and person who cared more about cultivating talent in her daughter than her family at large.

I hope it isn't, because it takes the wind out of Yuu's sails in trying to prove she's as capable as her sister, and worthy of her mother's recognition.

if Ruriko turns around apologizing at the outset for abandoning her, that's great--but Yuu might lose some of her motivation, turning to questioning why it had to happen at all, rather than focusing her energy into songwriting with Haru.

I could see a "both options" path, but Yuu's own journey started because of the tension with her mother. So that tension should be real, for Yuu's sake, to propel her to achieve her goals.

It would be a better story if Yuu were to go public denouncing her deadbeat mother who hasn't shown her face for close to a decade resulting in a public backlash against the mother. But I guess this works as well.

Why would that be a better story? Yuu's goals involve becoming a musician and songwriter that earns her mother's respect.

Outting Ruriko as a bad mom in the public eye doesn't achieve that, and only makes her look like a victim.
And that runs counter to Haru's own story of standing on her own and rising above her passive and timid self to become someone strong. Since the two of them are connected, something affecting/labelling Yuu would do the same to Haru, undercutting them both in a narrative sense.

They're japanese, I doubt she'd do that to family, might even get blowback on herself instead given how common deadbeats are

Isn’t there too big of a timeskip here? I feel like we’ve skipped some important milestones.

In Chapter 14, their MV got 64K views, which they considered a massive boost compared to their first release. In Chapter 15, Yuu needed some time to give her answer to Haru about singing the summer song together. And now, not only has she apparently resolved her hang-up about singing off-screen (Chapter 15 does mention some of her reflection on it, but it gets interrupted by Ruriko’s comeback), but they’ve also recorded the song, released it, and it’s reached a massive 2.7M views?

First, when does this chapter even take place? Chapter 15 was at the end of summer vacation, so early September, and their new song apparently released on September 9th.

But also, how does Yuu even feel about the fact that her singing in the song achieved such an amazing result? I’m assuming she’s singing in it, since her sister recognizes her voice, but does that convince her that she should push for it? Is she happy about it? Does Haru feel happy about it? Insecure about her role in Lupinus? Anything?

I feel like this was all skipped over way too quickly.

Maybe Haru has a crush on Rukiko, that's usual between fangirls.
Hope Rukiko had experience with woman to good use to her design

That would catapult the series straight to a 10/10 rating so it most probably won't happen.

Gonna wait and see what the author is going for but it seems like this chapter is to be taken at face value which is kinda sad to me since the deep trauma amounted to.. a handful of panels to then have them wagging tails run after the mom when she shows herself for the first time in years.
Series sadly is too slow for a complex story line where they mentally break while working under her or turn this into a revenge story.
