Not a flashback, this is a what if dream scenario, the villagers are still alive, and Ars is growing up with his family. That demon broke rule 1 - never show the protagonist a flashback in the middle of a fight
He's done for
This one?I feel like the whole "hallucination-attack, by showing a nostalgic vision of the past" is only effective in giving pause to someone. To "stun" them for a moment.
Because, really, if you have a traumatic moment where people you cared about were gruesomly murdered, a non-moron MC would just be pissed the fuck off you "dared to go there" and triple-down on killing you. Rather than "pull down their spirits", you just spike them the fuck up.
And I'm writing all of that, because I've seen too many comics where the MC is too easily lead to believe the illusion is real, and starts sobbing and crying that "you're alive" and whatnot like a fucking idiot, as if they cannot remember they were just now fighting someone, a literal moment ago, and instantly understand that it's all bullshit.
P.S: Now I'm wondering if this trope is actually a part of that "Overlord list of what-not-to-do against the forces of good". :u
EDIT: It isn't, derp. They should add it.
What I remember that the demon 'kakyu kind' can't be dead in that realm, and even if they die the soul just getting weak and not vanished. Kakyu, for what I remember, never dead before, that's why he's so powerful in this other world. But he just average in power scale in the origin hell.I am curious about something now... I understood after what some people pointed out... that Kakyu is kinda a "demon" from another world, and a different kind too when compared to the ones in this world.
So what I am curious about... is his strength inherent from the type of "demon" he is, or is his strength entirely because he lived so much?
There are some things I can point out... Kakyu explained that his true body is actually made of mana, and the body he is using is a physical one he constructed and then "squished" his true one inside, and he is kinda "piloting" it.
Considering the demons in this world live in the same plane of existence as people, it isn't far-fetched to believe their bodies are physical too.
But they do seem to have similarities with the type of "demon" Kakyu is.
I remember the scene of him remembering how hell was... when Zeus(?) was fighting Satan in hell... and the destruction they were causing was beyond anything we have seen the denizens of this world being able to do. And Hell was described to be a very chaotic realm, like... it changed with the "tides" of "chaos", so to speak, so that would make even the weaker denizens from there far stronger than most.
And if I remember correctly too... Zeus and Satan do know Kakyu has crossed to another world.
As far as it was shown, ''demons from hell'' are kinda like Hollows from Bleach. They get stronger and stronger by devouring other demons. Few chaps ago there was a flashback of Kakyu defeating a stronger demon as saying something like ''shut up and let me devour your soul already''. Overall, he's a low class demon who climbed up on power scaling using his intelligence and magic to win hard/impossible fights without dying once.I am curious about something now...
